Mein Auto: 2002 530i M-pkg manual
Post Thoughts on these mods for E39 530i???

I have been on the fence to either sell my ride and get another BMW, but what? I like NA engines, but not too giddy about 2006 330i or 2006 530i? I can't afford a 2009 model yet, with the sorted out i-drive, so I may wait and modify my current 2002 E39 with M sport package and drive it for another 3 years or so.

Looking for feedback and if anyone knows of links on where I can source these parts? I have not found much.

Source a 6 spd manual from any M54 engine made after 2004
3.15 final drive from a E39 M5 but I would have to rebuild it.
Cam from a ZHP M54 engine, and I am thinking I will need the ECU as well. for extra 10HP n 8 lb ft at the same RPMs as current engine.

I am not sure if I am the only one who has thought of this? I suspect not. I have had my ride for 5 years, and all I do with it, is service it (myself) and put gas in it. It serves me well. It came pretty modified from the factory with the M-sport package. Don't get me wrong, the car is great, I am attached, but loosing the giddiness that I had when I got the car. Need to spice it up.

As long has I have had this car, always wanted that 6th gear. Its 1:1 in 5th, and I try not too drive fast, but the car pulls all the time, so I end up speeding.

Not always, but I notice, on turns the DSG comes on, inside wheel gets light. Plus a short ratio with the 6 speed, would be a nice match.

A bit more horses would be nice, love the smoothness of the inline 6 NA engine, why I bought the car in the first place.

Any feedback would be much appreciated?

What you`re proposing sounds quite logical, except it represents a relatively small net gain in performance for the amount of money spent. I wouldn`t do it unless you REALLY love that car, and plan on keeping it for a long time....
