Various upgrades midway through the E60/E61 life. MY2008. You cannot just add it to your car as a package (without major cost). It involves minor changes to the body, headlights, tail lights, air dam, interior, transmission controls, etc.

BMW models tend to stick around for 7-8 years. Halfway through they typically freshen them up a bit. As the E60 debuted in MY2004, halfway through, in 2008, they freshened the design, add some trim here and there, maybe change a few things like sidelamps, grills etc....

They are upgrades made to the production of the cars, like using a different body kit, changing out the headlight housing as well as a different tail light housing, changing some of the trim on the inside, etc.. You can see what I mean if you simply google image search your 2007 550i and then a 2008 550i. The headlights are slightly different. Things like that.

They are not upgrades your dealer can add without very large costs. You're better off selling your car and buying a newer one.

All 2008 - 2010 E60's are considered LCI models. You can add all the changes/upgrades which were put into these cars and then some, but your model will not or never will be considered an LCI. As others have said, you would be better off selling or trading in your car for a 2008 model if you want an LCI. In the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't mean anything. The best part and biggest difference of the 2008 - 2010 models are really the tail lights and interior trim and shifter. More subtle are changes in the headlights, bumpers, desk lid & grille.

I was wondering the same thing thanks dking078! Very helpful info.. I have a question about the tail lights.. I have an 04 525i and im dying to replace the ugly tail lights with the LCI lights but i cant find proper lights for my car.. Some have the LED's but there is no reverse light on the bottom does that mean they are fake or copies of real ones? Also what else do i need for full installation beginning to end? If anyone can guide me through this i would really appreciate it!

P.s sorry for changing up tbe topic a bit but since the tail lights are the most noticeable change on LCI models, this may be helpful

The lenses with the reverse lights on the top instead of the bottom are aftermarket. They are usually cheaper but may not look like the OEM lights. Below is a link to some aftermarket lights which I think look pretty damn good, if you only want to spend about a third of the money of OEM.

You will need an adaptor to hook up the newer OEM lights to your car. Not sure about the aftermarket lights I posted on top as they are made for 2004 and up E60's.
