PS Pump rebuild...

I have just purchased a 1986 528e and the first thing I need to do is fix a leaking PS pump. I see rebuild kits are available for not a lot of money, or alternatively I could drop several hundred on a new pump, or I could find a good used pump.

Anyone have any insight as to which is the best alternative?

I am leaning toward rebuilding the pump, in which case I would be interested to know if there are any pitfalls or tricks I need to know about.

Thanks in advance.

A recent thread from another Fester told how he rebuilt his pump, reinstalled it and it continued to leak. He ended up buying a new one.

Sorry South...

I was able to pick one up today at a salvage yard for $50. Now I know you have a parts car I will ask you first. I am sure I am going to need more parts.
