'mon back!
So...
Will the 3 series ever be offered with a back-up camera? My neck is somewhat restricted in terms of rotation, and while I know that seeing is believing, I sure would like to have a back-up camera, as in many BMW models (and the competition!). Any news on this? Thanks. Richard

Too soon to say. For what it's worth, BMW is beginning to add cameras to some models. It's on the new 7.
The best indicator is whether or not a camera is on the new 5 series and I can't answer that.

Yes it is. And probably the new 3 will have it too.

As long as they leave it an option like the silly laser cruise and active steering...

The 5, X5, X6, and 7 all have top view and side view camera options. It sounds like these will also be offered on the new X3, seems likely to be on the F30.

I don't think it will get cam but I heard it was getting a sign added to visor that states "turn and look back when driving in reverse".

That won't help with blind spots.

Rear View Camera on 3-series?
Thanks for the serious responses.
As to the jokers, well, I wish them more things to do to fill up the extra time they have on their hands. As to the responder who suggested I turn my head, I, too, took driver training in high school. However, my neck is several score older (he can look it up), and its flexibility is compromised, hence my question and post. Apart from that, such a camera adds an additional safety measure, at least in my opinion. So...I welcome additional responses. The frustrated comedians can read on and go elsewhere, as far as I am concerned. Richard |

Backup cameras are available as standard equipment on quite inexpensive cars now. It is silly that BMW still considers this commodity item as an option. I am insulted by this perversity.
