Matte VS Gloss Grills

I'm going to be replacing my stock grills with some black grills. I think it makes the front end much more aggressive. Especially on Red Paint.

Anyways, I've been lurking through forums and discovered that BMW makes a Grill that is called "Chrome Black". Essentially, it's Gloss Black Grill.

There are none of these grills available for purchase on the E86 frame. However. I've been thinking.

Jet Black is a color from BMW that has little to no Flakes in the paint, itself (Compared to Sapphire Black, which is completely different).

Anyways. I've been thinking....

I was going to buy Matte Black Grills (probably from Jlevi). I was then going to buy some JB Paint, and Clear. I have a spray gun at home...You get where I'm trying to go?

I am going to throw a couple of coats on the Grills with Clear and produce my own version of Gloss Black Grills...Sweet, right?

Anyways, Vote up...let me know what you think:

I was thinking carbon fiber ones, but that chrome black might look pretty good to.

Best regards

Black Out

Maybe I'm getting to old for this crowd. (72) Black grills black Wheels? We used to pay extra for chrome now we pay to replace it with black. I admit in some cases it does improve the look. Of course the cheapest cars and cop cars used to come without chrome. I still like White walls. Now that would be a head turner, Red 2000 Z3 M with hard top and white walls. Bill - Gangster white walls, the wide ones! That would be really cool on the Z3.

Anyone got a photoshop that could post a picture of that?

Best regards

Oh I like the little touch of chrome acents on mine, but the black chrome would look nice too.

Whitewalls

Anybody here old enough to remember the White rubber rings we use to add to the black wall tires to make the look like the whitewalls that we could not afford? (They were so tacky) Bill in SC

If you are going to paint the grills anyways, why not paint your original grills?
