E63 / E64 6 Series (2003 - 2013)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

Question Former LS430 owner, current 335

Hey guys. Im new to this community. I have been a Lexus owner for years having owned two different LS's. A 1994 LS400 and a 2004 LS430, I just bought a 335i coupe that has been modded out by the previous owner. Its got some kind of after market intake and exhaust and the "vishnu" racing chip. I don't know much about BMW but it drives really great. However, it is very rough as a daily driver, especially compared to my LS's. I have the opportunity to buy a 650i convertible for a good price here are my questions... what do you think about the reliability of BMW convertible tops? and how prone are the modded motors on these 335's (twin turbo, straight six) engines to have issues? The 335 is at 91k and the 650 is at 61k. Thanks for any info. Ive done some looking around at reviews but I find that forums have the best reviews.

Lots of threads on convertible top, search is your friend. The one on my 02 330ci (bought new) has never failed in 12 years. My 6 is a coupe, so no real world feedback other than what I've seen here.
If you liked the Lexus level of reliability and reliability is on top of your list, then maybe an SC430 is a better choice. The 6 series is solid, but it has a couple of weak points.

I have an 07' that I bought almost 3 years ago, and I use the top daily. I would say that easily 800+ times up and down. Older models did have some issues though. The engine and drive train have been rock solid. I bought it with 35k miles and I have 66K now and no problems at all.
