Running towards the light
man they are so fukcing bright
same feeling as that drunkin crazy night
the night that I got into that huge fight
the night that I almost lost my life right
but things now are starting to look bright
I got a beautiful girlfriend, a Rolls Royce and a amazing heavenly cite.

@BMWFTW91:

When I titled this thread I had no idea there was a song that had the lyrics you posted. I've really tried to keep this a serious thread about replacing the angel eyes. Do you have some relevant input?

I picked up a set of LED angel eye "bulbs" from Terry's company. It's for the e90.
I haven't gotten around to installing them yet, though. Mostly because it apparently requires me to jack up the car on either side and get at the bulbs through the wheel wells. What a PITA.

Please post pics referenced with the product number and vendor when you complete the install.

All information is appreciated.

And my you're a stickler, Nordic.

These are the LED Angel Eyes bought from Terry Burger's company--burgertuning.com.

They cost $100, and didn't have any instruction sheets or anything in them. They came with the two LED light units, a nut driver and two sockets, plus a T15 torx screwdriver.

And you are a knight with shining halos.

They look great. Thanks for posting the picture. Looks like I need to revisit some of the options.

[EDIT] Bummer, I just visited Burger Tuning web site and your lights are not available for the Cabrio or Coupe.

BTW,II wanted the oil changed as it has been a year since the last one. The dealer said I wasn't due for an oil change. They said that they can go 2 years now?! (We don't get free service here in Germany)

Pulled the Trigger, FINALLY!

After two months of deliberation and with full intent of waiting an additional month, I pulled the trigger tonight and ordered the LUX 8H LED replacement bulbs. $255 out the door. They are scheduled to ship 06/10/2011.

DIY either 6/19 or 6/25

The lights arrived yesterday by USPS. You will have to be patient and wait till I can get to installing them this weekend. It's currently 97F here - car has been baking in the sun all day, so the liklihood of me trying to put them in with the engine bay scalding hot is pretty slim.....

Patience.

LUX H8 LEDs Installed!

Peer pressure around here is enormous!

Per Jocamryn being so insistent, Lark Houston goading me about our insanely hot weather, and Professor's supportive coaching, after supper tonight (and after temps dropped to about 90F) I decided to go ahead and tackle the light install. After all, how bad can it be if all the guys over on M3 Post and E90post claim its a ten minute job, right?

Anyway, getting the reference material out of the way:

I ordered the LUX H8 Angel Eyes from http://www.luxangeleyes.com

Marc (the owner of the company) is a sponsor over on E90Post and I spent a bunch of time reading the extensive thread going over there about the LUX H8's before I pulled the trigger. Kudos to his company for a great website, great customer service and a very nicely put together product.

The following two links were very helpful in doing the actual install:

http://www.fastm.com/e92m3/angeleyes.html

Now for the pics:

OEM Halogen Angel Eyes I took this one today, hot, sunny very few clouds at about 1:30 pm in the parking lot where I work. Our next door neighbors have reflective tinting on their windows and its a great way to get a good reflection. Tomorrow I'll post the companion "after" pic from the same vantage point at the same time so there is a solid 'before and after' reference.

Here is the process half way complete. Very obvious, OEM on passenger side, LUX H8 on drivers side. SO was anxious to get the lights turned back off before they got too hot so we could start on side two.....

Finished project:

Angel Eyes only

Angel Eyes and Xenons

Closeup shots

Comments about installation:

The key to it is the little ears or tabs on the bulb housing. Each tab is different and the lamp goes in only one way. These puppies are significantly bigger than regular halogen bulbs due to the heatsink. We used a pliers to get them maneuvered into the reflector, then it was just a lot of finessing to get them positioned and seated. I have fairly small hands and it was cramped for me to get them tightened into position, SO couldn't even get his "fat fingers" wrapped around them inside the light housing. Other than that, it was very straight forward plug and play. All in all, the drivers side took about 10-15 minutes, passenger side took about 30 minutes as we screwed up the orientation. Once we re-oriented the bulb using the oem halogen as a guide I had it locked in place in just a few minutes. If you are a big guy with big hands I really advise having someone with very small, agile strong hands ready to assist for the final seating of the bulbs.

I'll post up a couple more pictures tomorrow in strong sunlight, but I am very happy with the color and the light dispersion through the corona rings.

Thanks,

I made an effort to not tweak the photos. Just set my exposures as best I could and went for it so what you see is what you get.

I want to take a pic from about 50 to 100 yards away to get a real feel for what they will look like to oncoming traffic. That to me will be the real test of how they stand up to the LCI OEMs.

My knuckles are a bit scuffed (of course it just compliments the black and blue bruises I acquired Rejexing the wheels last weekend).

With your blacked out grille and reflector delete - yeah, I'm thinking that you would like the effect of this mod.

As my dealership is 2 minutes away from my workplace, I am thinking of calling my SA in the am and asking him if I can bring the car over and take a pic of it side by side with a new coupe or cabrio for comparison.

NK, looks great! It sure give the car a refresh, replacing those tired amber rings. Nice job! Aren't you glad we're here to motivate you to get it done? Who knows how long that package would have stayed unopened had we not been here to goad you along?

The color is great and they look bright. That's a concern of mine as it appears to be of yours as well... are they as bright as OEMs?

If so, I may just swipe all your effort and research and piggy back on your solution here, lol.

Me, leave a package for something to do with the Bimmer unopened? That'll be the day.

Not a problem. I've piggybacked on your research so it's a fair swap.
