Found another windscreen on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...SS%3AUS%3A1123

Starting bid is $350. That's a very decent price. (And again, no, I'm not the one selling it.)

I have mine now, put it in and used it over the weekend. It is remarkable how much it changes the wind dynamics in the cabin. Thanks for finding that great deal for me!

Not as standard. It's a ~ $450 - $500 option.

It is a big difference, the "vortex" in the cabin is completely eliminated. You can drive down the road and not have a hair ruffled. The screen can scissors up/down in case you want to have the air flow, you don't have to take it completely out to disable.

I have to get one of these, my wife gets a face full of hair on the highway so hopefully the screen will solve this problem.

It is great, she actually drove to work the other morning (I had put the top down the night before) and she left the top down. With the windscreen up and the side windows up it is very calm in the cabin.

I'll grab one from a dealer along the way down to NC in May. We get screwed on things like this at the dealers in Canada.

Call around or fill out a few quote forms on the internet. Circlebmw-dot-com usually has lower prices than a local dealer.

I see a few dealers selling them for $415 on eBay. Problem is I'll be driving with a group of 4 other cars so I don't want to take much of a detour to pick this up along the way.

Any idea what your average dealer sells the screen for if you walk in and buy one? Do dealers typically give you better deals if you do a quote form first then pop in to pick it up?

Just called my dealership locally and they quoted me $569.46 with two days to get it. I paid mid 4's online plus shipping.

Thanks for checking. I think I will try to buy one off eBay and ship it to a UPS store in Buffalo. Otherwise I'll bite the bullet and walk into a dealer to get one.

They want about $800 for them at the dealer in Toronto.

Thanks Nick. That is the best price I've seen from a dealership and it's brand new.

I finally had a chance to test out the windscreen on a windy 80 degree ohio day and I can attest to the fact that it is the best 400 I have spent. Decreased cabin noise and that turbulence without sacrificing that convertible feel.
I took me a little while to interpret the diagram directions.
Also the top part fell once while driving. Is there a lock to keep it up?

no lock to keep it up - just a click at the upright position - I believe it is designed so that you can give it a nudge to lower it while driving. Mine hasn't ever come down unless I wanted it to - maybe your's wasn't fully "latched" in the upright position.

Since I bought mine used it came with no instructions. I figured it out in about 2 minutes when I started to put it in. I imagine if I had instructions it would have slowed me down trying to interpret.

At first I saw the tabs that go into the middle of the back seat and had no idea what they were for. Then when it was in place I saw the holes and voila, I was up and running.

If you get a nice sidewind that is heading just the right direction (toward the back of the car but coming in from the side) the windscreen will fall back.

A quick lowering of the back of your seat and a reach back with your left arm is all it takes to pull the windscreen back into place.

Doesn't happen very often - can when you are passing 18-wheelers (lots of wind coming off of the front of those trucks). I steer to the outside of the lane when I pass 18 wheelers.

It may be $371 but the shipping is $72 (shipping seems a little steep) so it still costs $443. I will take the one I just one on eBay for $375 with free shipping

Does anyone know what option package added the integrated windscreen, or am I thinking of the wrong thing? I see the '12 models come with the glass window in the back and I may be misinterpreting its use.

TopDownInFl, I am looking to buy a convertible probably about June/July and I look at all the mods people have done and everytime I decide on what I want to do, I see yours and think, Perfection! If you decide to sell give me first shot at the deal!
