Well ...a short update. I managed to tear down the front end and had two sleeves come off of the wheel carrier with the control arm balljoint bolts. Just bought a pitman arm puller at autozone and should be able to square things away over the course of the next few days.
Will get the new tierods as close to spec as possible and have it aligned at the local BMW dealer near my work. On the plus side, this has given me a chance to inspect everything under the engine very closely.... ;-) Looking forward to buttoning things up! Glad I have other cars to drive.

sleeves do NOT come off w/o a reason
probably some suspension work was done on this car w/o a proper tool see if carrier is not damaged , maybe its better to buy some used carriers with a good sleeves from junk yard , they should be cheep + don't forget to do a final torque in a "normal position" You should have very good suspension if you plan to use stronger struts/sway bars and 18" wheels with spacers Last edited by champaign777; 03-27-2012 at 09:32 AM. |

I actually applied once for a job with the HR/Benefits department at BMW's Woodcliff Lake,NJ Headquarters. Sadly I didn't make it far into the process.

I was glad to have gotten called in for an interview at all.
Sadly, the position was not a perfect fit for what my experience base was. It was more of an "HR Specialist" role and I was at that point more of a programmer. Not by title, but by job role. Now I'm a nurse.... go figure?! They were at least curtious in the"let down".

.do you always have to say negative remarks or negative comments on every thread? I have noticed you have been doing nothing but that.

Well..i think we can cut you some slack on this one. The CF skin is about 4 months old. To be frank, i did a horrible job putting it on. Also, i carry my keys in my pocket (like most people) and it's hastened the peeling.

Latest update.... The Stormtrooper is still on jackstands. I haven't been able to devote nearly enough time to working on it as I hoped, but should be able to wrench for a while tonight. May acually get her back on the road for a shakedown by the end of the week. I've got the passenger side Upper and Lower control arms (with powerflex bushings) replaced along that side's tierod. Driver's side is partially disassembled but not much else to do besides installation of the new parts. I'm also going to install the Eibach sway bars (arrived on Friday) and swap out the motor and tranny mounts. Also noticed that my "new" (10,000 mile old) front sway bar endliks are shot...so I ordered these:
http://www.powergridinc.com/swaybar.asp ![]() Also working on a "trick" solution for the rear endlinks.... She should be a whole lot of fun once I'm all done! Then it's time for vanos seals and cooling system!!

Here are some excellent discussions on the topic
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...82&postcount=1 http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=602944 In essence, i will be using Graham's post as a guidline, but the theory is simple.. Any decrease in ride height should be met with a commensurate increase in endlink length.
