The specs of "Sweepstakes", the car the Ford drove to victory in the race are interesting.

It had a 2-cylinder 538 cubic inch engine that produced 26 Horsepower and a 2 speed planetary transmission. Maximum RPM was 900.

It probably had 3000 ft. lbs. torque. It is an elephant when compared to the modern gazelles.

Each cylinder of that beast displaced more than the entire engine (258 in³ I-6) in my first car.

Been there, done that ... my sympathies. Three words for ya: Anesthetic eye drops. If the doc hasn't already hooked you up, ask!

December 15, 2011, 11:44 am Edsel Ford II Wants the Family Punch Bowl Back

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Actually, I will never forget my first view of an Edsel when it appeared in my neighborhood when I was a young lad. It is etched in my memory. I thought it was an amazing work of automotive styling. All the neighbors came out and gathered around it.
The punch bowl reminds me of a similar set that my Grandmother left to my family many years ago. Very high quality crystal.

Love it here in Germany, but one thing about the docs here is that they are not as liberal with pain meds as our American counterparts. I'll be going to 'sick call' Monday AM.

I had to get percocet from the Army docs after my shoulder surgery, the Germans only gave me glorified Motrin/ibuprofen

Finished my Christmas Baking Today

Attempting to follow in my mother's footsteps I pulled out her "favorites" from the holiday cookie receipe book and gave it my best shot. Her standard holiday repertoire is usually 2X to 3X what is represented here in terms of variety, but these are the all time hall of famers. I had just a little bit of dough left as I finished the cut out cookies, so I just couldn't resist making a Roundel.

Between batches of cookies I managed to sneak in a much needed wash and vac on the E93. The weather this afternoon was very cooperative.

One or two more packages to go and I am done with my Christmas preparations.

Thanks, P&G!

It gave me a great appreciation of my mom's efforts over the years. My back was more achey after making those candy cane cookies than it ever is doing my wheels.

Kipferl - yes. This was my first go at baking them myself. I had to post a sign in the kitchen warning that offensive language might be heard.

They are hard to make. My mom sent me a kit two years ago to make them and it was still difficult. Somehow they didn't come out right. Yours look very good! I hope they taste like they look.

Thanks, C-Dub! The biggest problem was getting them off the pan without breaking. 25% of one pan ended up on the "reject" cookie plate. However, I did notice that even the reject plate was empty this morning.

On a side note, I had a blast in NY this past weekend. Dim Sum, Korean food at Korea town, Mesa Grill, and Chicago play.

What an embarrassment this thread and this forum have turned into.

Good job.

^^ When do you take delivery of your F30? Didn't you finish "saying my 'goodbyes' to the boys over in the E9X subforum."

I'll be languishing here until I upgrade in about 2 years.
