So wait, Furby, how far did the water reach up? Dirt in the radiator doesn't sound comforting -- wouldn't that be at least where the door sills start? Hope the car is ok and glad your home wasn't damaged with it.

Furb hope the car is OK. I work in northeast Philly and every 85-90 degree day they crack open the fire hydrants on the local streets. Tough to get around when your car is clean, but great when you have to clean your windshield!

It's crazy. Huge sink hole. You can fit a trunk in there. Really not a sink hole, just the ground exploded from the pressure.

The inside was not wet and I don't think water got inside the door sills. It's at the shop getting inspected today and detailed tomorrow. So $275.....

Nice...I should stop by and park my car in front of the hydrant. From there just let the kids have fun....years ago there were kids who hosed down a convertible while it drove by. Why the guy didn't step out of his car and bust them up is beyond me

I love that ad, wish I had a poster-sized copy.

I'm glad to hear your car remained (mostly) above water, Furb!

VAC motorsports called me

1) Detail done - car is clean with the mud taken out
2) No damages found. No water inside the car.

It will cost me $260 which I will submit to the city insurance. It's less than my deductible, which they said they pay for the deductible

Considering I was less than 30 feet from the break I got real lucky. I saw another car, a block down, which had water coming over the doors.

SMH...poor X5, the day before, they had those silly eyelashes on the headlamps...they didn't last long. Wish I got a pic of it. I'm sorry I even turned them on to the brand.

How you liking it, Bolt?

The limited drive time I have had behind the wheel of an F30 has not had me running to the dealer asking for quotes. I was not very impressed with the steering response (it felt like there was a noticeable dead-zone at center), though the engine was very responsive. The styling I could get used to and it'll eventually grow on me.

I love it, great car. It's the first 3 Series that isn't faking it, isn't pretending to be some race car. It says "Luxury" right on it, it's built luxuriously, and it really handles well.

Give an F30 another test drive, make sure you're behind the wheel of a Luxury liner and that you've hit the "Sport" button on the center console. The throttle response is terrific, the new 328i turbo getting better performance and better reviews than the 335i in this model.

The steering is different, takes a day to get used to, but fly-by-wire is much better than tug-of-war. Much as you'd like to think you're an enthusiast, you likely spend most of your steering effort parking your car or driving at low speed to haul groceries and the boosting is very welcomed.

And the interior, well, no need to even go there. Like night and day. So many toys, so well designed, so comfortable.

BJ

I wouldn't say the first, by a long shot. The character of the 3er has, for several generations including the F30, been hugely affected by how you option it. Cushy or sporty, buyer's choice.

Some of us whose driving profile does not fit that description would agree to disagree. "Enthusiast" is not shorthand for "wants race-car dynamics at all times," but even some non-enthusiasts would agree that EPS, while a great idea and the inevitable future, is an innovation still in need of refinement.

Hmm, once again, agree to disagree. But I genuinely do not wish to mar your enjoyment of your new ride so I will not voice my opinions further.

Beautiful car, congratulations! Enjoy that smell while it lasts.

Technically, the moment the car is driven from the production line, it starts to be 'used'.

Love used cars, especially 10-month old GTs that save you $16k...poor new owners that took the hit Suppose we are all in the same boat, more or less, but the initial depreciation is simply brutal.
