An F30 is a new car, they are sold today for their sticker price.

An E90 is a used car, they are sold today for half their original sticker price.

This isn't about depreciation. This is about a luxury status-symbol that's passed-prime and looking worse than a leisure suit at a business meeting. These E9X people are now lumped in with the tweens spending their summer job money on a $10,000 used BMW. What was once a proud German luxury car is now worth less than a Hyundai. You see an E90 driver on the road, you assume he just bought it used. Time to trade it in and move on up.

You're a funny guy. Enjoy your new car and don't over think the concept. I had a loaner like yours and couldn't wait to get my E90 back, to each their own...

BTW, I'll charge you $10 to touch MY car!

Now that you have driven it off the lot try selling your F30 for sticker price.

Can't disagree. But being the original owner is good enough for me until I upgrade. I'm not upgrading until after I change csareers next year.

If I autograph the glovebox it'll get a $5,000 premium at auction.

I respect your opinion and your choice to drive a last-gen out-of-style car as you are a purist and an enthusiast.

That said, you will be driving behind me should you choose to go to the Fall Foliage Run. An F30 takes no back seat to any E90. We get to a stop, I enter the lot first. We see an open parking space, I get it. We both need to pass a slow moving vehicle, I go first. We stop at a light in adjacent lanes, I get the right of way. We're in a restaurant, I order first. I've got a casual #1 and you've got an extremely urgent #2 at a bathroom break, I go first. My windshield needs bug removal, you do it.

I'm actually looking forward to meeting you, you seem quite the character! Hope you're having a nice day!

As for being an enthusiast, I suppose I am, to an extent at least. As for the "purist" remark, well we 1st have to settle on the definition but I don't think i fit the criteria. I do find the NA6 engine somewhat slow and the twin-turbo on the GT much more full of life. As for driving a manual, I did that for 12 years and got tired of it so absolutely loving the triptronic.

Last but not least, we'll make sure you're 1st in line, no worries, including driving through potholes and other road imperfections, so that I have an early warning system!
You see, being second has its benefits.

Please prepare yourself for the fact that at the Fall Foliage Run you will be parking in a lot where F30s are the cars that are provided to the interns (and I'm not kidding).

A day at the races:

I can put you in touch with people from Mecum, Bonhams and Barrett Jackson.

Are you willing to put it up with no reserve?

No way. I watch those auctions on the Velocity Channel all the time, and now with that Shelby guy gone there's room for another celebrity to step up and take his place. The BJ edition of the F30 is going to be quite special.

I've never seen those cars being restored on Wheeler Dealers. Are those racing vehicles or funnycars created by Chuck Barris?

Question: How many F30s can you buy for the value red car in this picture?

Answer: (Assuming $50,000 F30) 600

What would happen if an E90 driver made it physically impossible for you to reach the rest stop first?

Give an F30 another test drive, make sure you're behind the wheel of a Luxury liner and that you've hit the "Sport" button on the center console. The throttle response is terrific, the new 328i turbo getting better performance and better reviews than the 335i in this model.

The steering is different, takes a day to get used to, but fly-by-wire is much better than tug-of-war. Much as you'd like to think you're an enthusiast, you likely spend most of your steering effort parking your car or driving at low speed to haul groceries and the boosting is very welcomed.

And the interior, well, no need to even go there. Like night and day. So many toys, so well designed, so comfortable.

BJ
Glad you're enjoying the F30! I'll wait for the LCI to really take a good look. Let them work out the kinks and drive it when it's mature. As far as I see it you're the beta tester to make sure I might be tempted in 4-5 years to replace the E90. Please, do take your role seriously.

The new 8 speed in the 328 freaking feels like a DCT. I drive these cars everyday.

P.S. I got promoted to Used Car Lot Manager at the local BMW dealership in 3 months. Starting from somewhere.

UPS just delivered a smallish shiny blue box to me....also ordered a spark plug socket and set of plugs yesterday.

Question is, at 42K miles, do I wait to get the new plugs in before I upload things to the car from the device in the blue box, or just go for it? Already updated the firmware and have the maps for my ECU....

It sounds like you'll be delivering the bottle of Pappy Van Winkles in half the time, for the Fall Drive in CT!

You, sir, are truly driving the greatest example of an ///M328i anyone has ever seen, so I would grant you the right-of-way.

That said, your car is terribly slow and my L328i would simply toast you despite my efforts to let you stay ahead.

Sorry.

You are lucky I am not going to the Fall Foliage. There is only one car I drive behind at these events. Come to C2CV and the best you'll place is 3rd. You know how I drive, I'll enforce those rules

On a side note...my car is parked in the same spot so often it made it on to google maps
