Does anyone here work at BMW? I work for a BMW dealer and wanted to know the employee pricing. Thanks! My father is looking to get into a 740i from a 650i.

If you work for a BMW dealer, you should be able to access employee pricing sheets quite easily. I don't imagine you'd have to go through corporate.

Valet Disaster

A co-worker and I go to a function at one of the ritziest places in Houston. Got to be in top 3 of ridiculously expensive and extravagent places in Houston. Nothing but Aston Martins, Lambos, and Ferrari parked out front. My co-worker pulls up in his truck. Naturally they take it to the back into a parking garage. When we go to leave, the valet guy says: "Sir, there has been a little incident with your truck. Could you come with me?" Picture is what we find. (Note, how empty the garage is.) He says, "I don't know how this happened, but I wasn't going very fast." Of course the evidence belies the speed statement. Oh, and airbags deployed. How fast do you think he was going? I'm thinking at least 25-30. Anyway, turns out the insurance the valet company is supposed to have is lapsed. After much haggling, the restaurant does pay up for the truck (it is totaled) and all of his rent car and other expenses. He replaced it with a 2013 Camaro SS, so not a horrible trade off.

My guess at translation: "I wasn't paying any attention at all so that column was, like, a total surprise! Sorry dude."

I would have guessed he was hooning around but I note the total absence of skid/slide marks on the floor. He just plowed straight into the pillar. My money would be on texting or a similar eyes-down distraction. Idiot.

Well, I'm glad your friend got a new ride out of the deal. It's a better-than-usual outcome for valet mayhem!

Believe me, I've asked the General Sales Manager multiple times and I've never gotten a response back.

I drove one again on Saturday. Jaguar had a booth at the Lime Rock Historics (they were the sponsor of the event) and had several cars available for test drives.

These pictures are from last year.

I'm not sure what I think of this car. I know I don't like the front side air intakes that look like they were stuck on as an afterthought.

Is it just me, or is there an onslaught of new (under 15 post) members who come on and post nothing but "problems" with their cars? One going so far as to say his BMW delaer told him there were no issues or recalls on the HPFP on the 335i?!?

Could we possibly be under seige by trolls seeing who can cause the most rucus?

It's kids. High school seniors just spent their summer job money, bought 'em cheap off of Craigslist.

Off lease E90's are priced as low as $16,000 now, so you're seeing a huge influx of used car buyers in this subforum and it's going to continue for years. Now that the F30 is here, the E9X subforum has been relegated to the dustbin of old BMW's, and as the Coupe and Convertible and Station Wagon are transitioned this place becomes a ghost town.

Same thing happened to the E46 subforum, it's nothing personal. Circle of life kind of thing.

$16,000 for an E90? That speaks very poorly of BMW resale values.

This is Matthew. Matthew is being treated for bone cancer and he and his family are residing at Ronald McDonald House in Manhatttan while he is being treated.

For the past two years I have been the orgqnizer of the Kids' Choice Award at the Sunday in the Park segment of the Lime Rock Historic Festival. We charter a bus to bring the kids and their famiies to the track for the day, serve them lunch and chauffer them around in golf carts so they can see all of the classic cars (there were more than 1,000 cars this year) parked along the 1.5 mile track. The kids are given ballots and "official" judge badges and they vote for their favorite car, The winning car is awarded a trophy at the awards ceremony

Matthew was fascinated by this 100 year old Alco race car that had competed in several Vanderbilt Cup races which were held on closed public roads in Long Island. Howard Kroplick, who is the owner of the car and a fellow Chowder Head (member of the madison Avenue Sports Car Driving and Chowder Socierty), saw that Matthew liked the car and let him sit in the drivers seat. On Sunday for a few hours Matthew wasn't a sick kid, he was a happy kid, and his Mom and Dad got to see him laugh, play and smile,

This picture explains why we do the Kids Choice award and why we will continue to do it every year. We look at the picture and it really helps us keep things in perspective and understand what is really important and how fortunate we are,

Special thanks to 'Feser EdCt who volunteered to drive one of the golf carts and to Skip Barber, Jeanette Veitenheimer, Renea Topp, Ryan Macintosh and the rest of the Lime Rock staff for helping us put this event together. Thanks also to our sponsors, SyNet Solutions, Power Door Products, Lexus, Pirelli, PC Connection.

That's a great cause and time well spent helping to make their day a pleasant and memorable one.

I am fortunate to be in the position for a number of years, serving as Trustee and Managing Director of a charitable foundation that has been a tradition of philanthropy since 1955. We now support over 80 worthy charities, and it is very gratifying to help those who need the support of others.
