What's in NOV? I'm in the states now. And all that talk of the slow speeds here...I definitely wouldn't WANT to drive that fast (Autobahn Speeds) on the highways here...totally different standard of maintenance and upkeep. It's a telling tale when you see "free" windshield crack/chip repair stands at every strip mall. Man my baby is going to get all jacked up on these roads....

Why does it take 6-8 weeks for a car to be built and arrive? Too long.

It doesn't take that long to build and ship a car. It does, however, take that long for everyone who ordered before you to get theirs

Off lease E90's are priced as low as $16,000 now, so you're seeing a huge influx of used car buyers in this subforum and it's going to continue for years. Now that the F30 is here, the E9X subforum has been relegated to the dustbin of old BMW's, and as the Coupe and Convertible and Station Wagon are transitioned this place becomes a ghost town.

Same thing happened to the E46 subforum, it's nothing personal. Circle of life kind of thing.

I think it's trolls. Today, 2 more threads with brand new members, digging up old (one was a year old) threads with inflammatory titles.

Loosely organized effort to drive down demand? I've seen it before.

I hate trolls.

It is worse when you are on the west coast of the U.S. and have to watch the progress of the boat carrying your car slooooowly pick its way down to the Panama Canal and back up the west coast of Mejico - grass grows faster.

Frozen Paint Craze

We just got back from spending two weeks in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. I was amazed to see how widespread the Frozen Paint trend is becoming. I should have been more diligent in my photo documentation, but alas, I was more occupied taking family snapshots. For the record though, everything from X5s to M3s were noted. Now that I've seen nearly every variant, the best looking IMO is the frozen Silver. Definitely NOT a fan of Frozen Black and Frozen Gray bears just a little too much resemblance to primer.

The best part of seeing the Frozen Silver M3 terrorizing the streets of the Alte Stadt in Nürnberg on Saturday afternoon was hearing the exhaust notes echoing two blocks away.

I stroll past the dealership every now and again....waiting for it. Constantly checking the status of it online.

Some models that are sold as Lexus in the US are sold under the Toyota brand in other parts of the world. The Lexus SC 300 coupe that I had was sold as a Toyota Soarer in Japan where at the time the Lexus brand did not exist. A lot of the parts of that car were stamped "Toyota". That did not stop it from being an excellent car with a level of refinement that makes my 335i feel rather crude by comparison.

When orders go into their computer systems it really only takes minutes until it migrates - sometimes an hour if the system hasn't run it's batch updates (I have a friend who works in software development for BMW). If there isn't anything in the system after two days it's probably been cancelled prematurely.

Or, not put in. There were similar problems after the d was announced. Dealers had only so many allocations they could fill. A number of potential buyers thought they had an order (the dealer even took a deposit), only to find the dealer was waiting for an allocation. Absent an order number, no order has been placed.

When did they start making BMWs in China? They really cheapened the interior!

Did you order your car through the Walmart auto buyer's club? That would explain it if you did!

Insurance question, if I add the car to my insurance, even though I don't have it, will I have to pay for the weeks I don't have possession of the car?

Yes.

Insuring the car in transit is overkill. The shipping companies are fully insured. Add it to your policy a day or two before it's due to reach the dealership. Although it is covered by the trucking company and the dealer until delivered, having it on your policy as well can speed along a claim if there is an unfortunate incident that leads to finger-pointing.
