S8 would be kept in Florida. Probably not a likely purchase and we will continue renting when we are in Boca Raton but I want to check out the S8.

I imagine it'll be an impressive ride. Fast, large, comfortable. It'd be interesting how it stacks up to the 7.

This is despite us knowing full well that an Audi is a rebadged Camry.

I just can't fault Wyoming Valley Motors, Kingston Pa for anything.

I didn't buy my e92 there but they have treated me right inspite of that fact. Today I had my 2nd yearly inspection, rear brake service (including new rotors), brake light replacement, state inspection with a wash and interior cleaning ... all for $19. (The state inspection)

So far, except for an alignment, my total expenses there has been $38.

They also offer late hours on Wed. as well as Sat. hours and they have never tried to sell me any unnecessary service unlike the Toyota dealer for my wife's Rav4.

As far as I'm concerned, Wyoming Valley Motors is THE dealer in NE Pa.

So this is how the out-of-warranty service experience begins...(Mind you, I have paid for extra services out of pocket before at this place with in-between oil changes and yearly brake flushes.)

cwinter: Hi, can I get an appointment for an oil service, no light reset. Can you get it done in 1 hour so I can wait on it and won't need a loaner?

SA: It'll take 1-2 hours.

cwinter: Oh...well, I can't wait two hours on it, I guess I'll need a loaner then.

SA: We don't do loaners for oil changes only, unless it is Saturday.

cwinter thinking to himself, he's had loaners before just for oil changes, that is odd...

SA: Let me check with the loaner department.

(No response for over 1 hour.)

cwinter: Nevermind, I'll take it to the Indy shop. Closer to the office and they can get me in and out in 1 hour.

SA: Sorry I couldn't help ya...

What in the name of (your preference to fill in) is this pop-up thing on the bottom of my browser (using Safari) with a T symbol and items that someone/thing thinks are related to my interests that I have come to find here today on the 'fest? Rather a nuisance if you ask me. If it's related to add revenues, I get it. The 'fest is free. But if not, please have someone remove it at once!

Safari has the ability to block pop-ups (at least on OS v. 10.8.2). Not sure what it is that you are complaining about.

I"m using OSX 10.7.5 and Safari Version 6.0.2 (7536.26.17). No software updates in a month or so. And just checked Firefox and the thing did not appear.

Plot thickens... Only happens here today on the 'fest.

Anyone else seen this? Just happened today out of the blue.

Found out it's spyware called either Yontoo or Topic Torch. Found out how to remove it here. Very easy and there are descriptions for all browsers.

Winter Autocross at Lime Rock this weekend. We will have studded tires on the Miata and will be driving on the combine autocross course which I am told is covered by several inches of snow. I'll post pics Saturday night,

By early afternoon it had gotten warm enough so that all of the snow was melted from the track. It was still pretty slippery and was a good opportunity to practice drifting (and spinning out) around the corners. The AWD cars (there were Audis, and a couple of Porsches) were fastest around the wet track. One member brought his McLaren MP4-12C.

Sexy looking car. How did the x-drive BMW do?

Nice! How did the McLaren do on the snow/ice with brake steer? I bet that helped at least some. Interesting the variation in cars running; from modest to super rich!

To put things in perspective that car is worth more than 546 BMW M3s (assuming $75,000 for an M3)

There is a woman who brings her GTO to the Lime Rock Historic Festival every year and I have seen her race it in the vintage races. She and here husband bought the car when it was 2 years old for $14,000. A few months back Robert Cumberford wrote in Automobile Magazine that in the late 60s a dealer in Belgium offered to sell him two of them for $12,000.

Other 250 GTO owners include Ralph Lauren and Nick Mason, with the Pink Floyd star often spotted driving around England in his model, which has the plate '250 GTO'.

1962 Ferrari 250 GTO for sale at $41 million makes bid for world's most expensive car

Just six months ago, a green 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO built for Sir Stirling Moss traded hands for $35 million, making it the most expensive car ever sold. That record may not stand another month if an anonymous American seller gets his asking price of $41 million for his 250 GTO - a sign that the market for Enzo Ferrari's most famous race cars may soon overheat.

Offered for sale by a London broker, there's little public detail about which one of the 39 known GTOs has been put on the market. It's one of 29 Series I GTOs, and one of 22 left-hand-drive versions, and the broker claims it has "great provenence and a very well cared for history by past and current owners," which only means it likely hasn't been burned in a wreck on the track.
When Ferrari built the V-12, 170-mph GTOs to race, with wins at Le Mans and around the world, there was never a thought that the cars would someday turn into near-venerated objects. Even a decade after their heyday, GTOs were often considered worn-out sports cars by collectors. Only in recent years, as the world's wealthy have begun to see collector cars as pieces of art, profit and coolness combined have their prices risen to stratospheric heights. By comparison, the most expensive new car for sale in the world - the Bugatti Veyron, starting at $2 million - seems a downright bargain.
The world of people who keep track of GTOs and their owners will know if and when a buyer puts down the $41 million. If no one bites, the collector car world will know that there's at least a temporary ceiling to demand for the right cars. If someone does pay for it, the question then becomes where the top really is, and who else might be willing to pay tomorrow's price for a 50-year-old Ferrari today.

Supply and demand. Out of curiosity, I would be interested to learn if someone does put down the $41 million. Is there a formal registration process (similar to real estate) where title is subject to public scrutiny? I doubt the new buyer is going to go into the local DMV and file for a change in title and swear under penalty of perjury what they just paid. Or, maybe they will?
