7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

Hello,
You have to clear the error codes if it's giving you problems. I know I had to, but reading here in the forum, most people didn't have to clear the codes.

Thanks,

What's the proper way to use the parking brake? I hold the parking brake button down and it starts flashing red. Then the same message pops up

Thanks Born2fight... I just recently sold my 06 to a friend of mine and the parking brake when out. My friend since he is a mechanic he change parking with metal cos it was out. I just wanna understand why is the parking gear not engaging the car still has the yellow parking brake malfunction.

when you change the shoes you are supposed to reset the brakes by pressing the button 3 times in close secession - but if you look in inpa there is a section on the shoes showing the last pressure used and current pressure and position , I think you will need to start by clearing errors and having a look at that

Hello Jav,
I'm pretty sure that as soon as the error codes are clear, the parking brake will start working fine. That's how it was in my car at least.

"Proper" way to engage the parking brake is to press the button while pressing the brake. It should work fine after you clear the codes.
