I ordered a Blue Water Metallic X3 with black leather and Fineline Wave Wood Trim. I like the looks of the Oyster leather but I'm not sure about the look of the black plastic seat backs. Also not sure how it would look from the outside of the car. Anyone seen this combination? Thank you!

This one is Blue Water and Oyster: http://new.richmond-bmw.com/detail/n...-a1067504.html
Looks good in my opinion, except for the light wood trim. I'd pair it with Fineline Dark wood trim or aluminium. Play with this Visualiser: http://www.bmw.de/de/de/newvehicles/...isualizer.html |

Thanks for the pictures. Is the carpet gray or black? I like the darker wood better too.

I have not seen the Blue Water in person - only in pictures. Wish there was one nearby that I could look at.

I've got the Oyster with dark wood. Definitely the best choice for Oyster.

LOVE IT!!! The color combo is perfect. Rave reviews from everyone. The Fineline Wood Trim is unique. My wife is not into cars....her quote "I want one of my own....Really, I do!!!" In my 30 years with her...and a 325i, a 535i, 911 and XJ 6....she has never lusted after any...until this X3.

Good to hear since I went ahead and changed the interior to Oyster. My car started production yesterday.

My advice is too late for sure and congrats with your choice...
lighter colors are very nice... the issue is with maintaining them though... I had this hint from the BMW sales rep himself that lighter colors (such as Beige or Oyster) are very difficult to maintain. Your clothing even marks the seats in mid-run. If you are wearing jeans, some leave blue mark after sometime... with a darker seat though I think the stress is less With sea blue you could have chosen Havana (I think it is called Mojave in US)... they look awsome together... |

Shaw- you are onto something...early on we were considering a Countryman...we saw their color equivalents of dk blue/brown leather and it looked great together. I am far from objective because we own one...but...Mojave with fine line is one sharp combo!!

I read about the jeans letting off before I made my choice. I don't think I'll have a problem as long as I keep up with the maintenance like I do with my current car. I seldom wear blue jeans and don't have any kids to mess it up. I've had a gray fabric interior for 8 years and still looks like new. I ordered the light blue water metallic not the dark sea blue and felt that the Oyster looked best with it. |

Again, I agree... but essentially a lighter color leaves you with more maintenance attantion and that's a fact...
But if you like the color so much, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't have gone for it. So excellent choice!!! Last edited by Shaw; 04-29-2011 at 09:30 AM. |
