2011 x35d now has LED Corona

Just picked up my 2011 x35d and it has the LED coronas form the factory. I was planning on ordering the LUX, but was pleasantly suprised this morning when the dealer pulled it up and it has the LED Coronas already on it form the factory. Order date of 3/30/11 and deliver as of today!

If you ordered it on 3/30 it's a 2012 not a 2011

It's a 2011, it's a 35d and they are going to be 2011's for a few more months....can't order a 2012 x35d yet I tried. The gasolines are 2012's now, but if you get the diesel your getting a 2011. At least that's what the window sticker, dealer and the paperwork all say.

You are correct. my 2011 35d just arrived this week and I puck up on Monday. Curious as to whether mine will have LED or not.

Dealer said it he saw them on on other x35d delivered earlier this week. Mine had a finished production date of 4/13, so assuming you were at or after 4/13 you should have them. They are very bright, seem to be much brighter than the LUX I would have had to put on.

Sorry but I don't get the infatuation with LED coronas. I can't see 'em when I'm driving. As a matter of fact, I've set the daytime driving lights in the off position. Do we wanna see or be seen? That is the question!

Anyone know if 2012 x5 led corona light bulbs will fit 2011 x5 or is this a major change in the light system- how much per bulb!! Realize all very new!!! Regards!!

Have you even seen them? The factory LED or the aftermarket LED? The puke yellow coronas from the 80's is a crime on a modern car that costs 50 big ones and up. Stand Megan Fox next to Susan Boyle and you can honestly say you don't get the difference?!

I am pretty sure the only way to do it is to swap out the whole headlight assembly and that would cost a few thousand dollars.

Sadly I recognized the Boyle name but not Megan Fox so I googled her (I wish) and you do have a point. I must confess that I recently replaced the parking light bulbs on my 996 (one burned out) with LED bulbs (@$4.75 ea.). It makes a difference but I seldom run with parking lights only. I did take a look with xenon headlights on and noticed the absence of "puke" yellow which used to come from parking lights which remain on when headlights are on. So three cheers for LED's. I'm still not changing them out in my X5 but what do you expect from a guy who did not know of Megan Fox? Been married to my own "fox" for 36 years. Maybe that's why? I'm just too comfortable??

I had a regular xenon one replaced on my e53 after a collision in '05. It was >$1k. The new corona assemblies 6yrs later have to be more expensive you would think.

Other people than us do notice those rings. I have a friend that regularly sees an x6 50 on the way to work. She asked me why it's headlights were 'uglier' than mine

I have mine set to off as well, gator. I still think they look cool though.

just picked up mine Xd 2011 - very nice surprice with the corona LED!!! old rings are just old, have them in 530d, new LEDs are so much better

It's simple, you want to be seen, so you Don't get HIT!

that's the main function of the DRLs... it's all about extra safety...

my X5d just went into production. I hope I do get LED coronas

Hey Peter35d, did you order the Premium Sound or you went with the base system? If you chose the base audio, I would be interested to know if BMW also gave you the 2012 Professional HiFi instead. Let us know. Thanks.

not with X5d - the upgrade goes with gas version

Not sure or how to check since LED lights were not on sticker either but on the car, didn't upgrade the radio but the one it came with sounds very good. Plenty of base.

Not quite... technically, 2011s etc are plural expressions and not possessive. No apostrophe.

This whole apostrophe mess started with people (correctly) using them in abbreviations when naming decades. So, for example, the '80s, where the apostrophe took the place of 19. Then people started calling them the 80's and the English language was doomed forever, resulting in your for you're and vice-versa, etc. (I've used boldface instead of more apostrophes here to avoid confusion).

I'm not an English major, professor, or even scholar. I just read my fair share of books growing up. Go ahead and roll eyes, but we have become a nation (and perhaps world) of illiterates, which I can't help but think contributes in some way to the breakdown of society we are witness to today.

Incidentally, I heard that perhaps the main reason BMW wants to have LED coronas in all its models is that the non-LEDs are very expensive to replace and under warranty claims, were costing the company way more than they were comfortable with. I also happen to be one of those who think the old yellow lights (which I have on my 2011 X5D) look ok, but agree the LEDs look more showy and are of course brighter. More like Meg Ryan and Megan Fox, if you ask me, with the former being quite attractive (and in a more natural way) in her day.

Meg Ryan.......LED in her day and it's still her day.

I have a '12 scheduled to come out of production tomorrow, trading in my 06 A6 to go back to the X5. I had an E53 4.8 a while ago and missed it plus I have my first born coming so felt the need to go back to an err SUV. So can anyone confirm if these LED coronas are like the 3 series or X3? I have yet to see one on the road. Look forward to talking to u guys.
