2012 X5 Squeaky Seat

I just took delivery of my '12 X5 and the driver seat is already squeaking. Has anyone else has experienced this with a '12 or recent models? Any suggestions?

They all do it. Its the leather rubbing on the plastic on the side. Every BMW SUV I have had does it.

mine does this, although moving the seat positioning slightly made it go away for the most part

Mine does it too...when I go around a corner. It sounds more like it is coming from the lower back part of the seat in mine.

Yeap, I concur it's the plastic on the back. However if you recline it a bit it will go away, something to do with the seat position.

Got mine about a week ago and just noticed the squeak driving to the airport yesterday; bugging the heck out of me.

So then I look here and find that its not uncommon... Is it fixable by the dealership, or should I just find a different recline angle?

Took mine to the dealership last week, and it seems to be scrunch-free now. Here is what they put down on my service slip...

"VERIFIED COMPLAINT. CHECK SIBS. SEVERAL AVAILABLE. PERFORM SHORT TEST AND SEAT CREEK TEST MODULE. LUBRICATE BUSHING FOR SEAT FRAME ADJUSTMENT. STILL NOISY. REMOVE SEAT BACK COVER AND USE SPECIAL LUBRICANT ON ALL LOCKING TAB CONTACTS. STILL NOISY. APPLY LUBRICANT ON SEAT CUSHION SPRING. NOISE DISAPPEARED. "

Had the squeak in the drivers seat. The dealer replaced the seat frame, now the squeak is gone, and it is a pleasure to drive.

The service folks lubricated a spring in the seat base (I previously posted the remarks on my service ticket). Unfortunately, it is starting to creek again, not as bad, but I am sure as time goes by it will get worse. Just lubricating it seems to be a band-aid and doesnt cure the creek. I think I read that someone had the seat replaced and that worked.

The seat frame must be defective. Short of replacing bad parts is just a temporary fix

My dealer said they lubricated the seat with "leather conditioner", yep, "leather conditioner", and said the squak went away. After driving 5 miles from the dealer, the creek came back and is now worse than ever. I called the service director yesterday to explain this and have an appt Monday to bring it back in and test drive it with him. Will let you know if it gets fixed.

John, is your seat still ok or did it start creeking again after new frame? I may demand new frame on Monday.

What a drag and waste of time. But, at least you have it on record now that there is an issue with the seat and they have tried once to fix it already. Wonder how many times before you get a new seat?

Yep, that's what I'm wondering. Funny thing is, I printed out your post above which mentioned your dealers fix and brought that to them last Monday saying "here's the fix", but apparently they must think the "leather conditioner" solution is better! I told Service Director yesterday I'm not driving off until creek is completely gone.

Did they have to approve and order you a new seat frame or did the dealer have it in stock? How long did it take to repair?

I left the car on a Friday. Given a loaner on Tuesday I picked it up fixed. I was told they had the frame sent overnight.

Interesting. Was this the first time your brought it in? What was wrong with it? I'm surprised they instantly changed the frame without trying to lube it first etc like the did with me.

I brought it in for another issue. At that time I told them about the squeaky seat. I was called and told they are ordering the seat frame. Nothing mentioned about other remedies.
