Mainly enjoy the ride...and good luck in your search...
The e89 is a "look alike"?? Really? Can you tell us what other cars it looked like when it was released back in 2009?

So, of all possible places, the one and only "true sports car" line in the sand happens to be drawn exacty between an e85 and an e89? Oh Puleease. Go feed that crap to the e85 folks on your own forum. You'll have an audience that won't laugh at you over there.

I'm sick and %^&* tired of listening to troll e85 owner's and their BS. The e85 is now an outdated, underpowered, ugly older brother, outclassed vehicle compared to the e89. It's time e85 owners like you start dealing with that reality. Posting your BS over here won't make that reality go away!

As I've said before, I have NO time or motivation to troll the e85 forum or post backhanded slams against the e85 to an audience of 100's of e85 owners. Nor do I have the IGNORANCE you posess, to do that. e89 owners have nothing to prove as our cars speak for themselves.

Damn Blue, that's pretty harsh. I don't know why you let others get to you so much. it's not worth it. Let's chill out and keep things amiable.

True, but that's just in response to a subtle, snide remark by TRIARN saying that the e85 is and e89 is not a "true sports car" LOL. I've never seen so many ppl come onto another enthusiasts' forum and rag on their cars to the extent e85ers have on e89 forums. Talk about a major inferiority complex. Pretty sad.

Btw, a *true* sports car in my books is mid-engined and has way better pwr-to-weight than all of our Z4s, new or old. Just be happy w/ what you have and get over it, ppl. Both Z4 do their intended, respective jobs well but old is old and time moves on to better things.

Hi There!!!!!

The amusing thing about these jealous e85 owners is that they post once, then they silently watch the thread to see how we will respond. So, we know you lurk out there TRIARN, reading our every word. A big hello from all of us!!!!

i like to say its a weekend driver, but i cant stop myself from driving it

I use my z4m roadster as a daily driver every now and then. The jeep i own has 33'' tires and a 3.25 suspension lift with a 1'' body lift. It shakes, to say the least.. I love driving my z4m, daily or as a weekend driver. i'm also 5'3, but my boyfriend is 6'3 and has issues driving it because he is so tall. I love everything about the car really, although i wish it had a m5 motor in it , instead of a m3.

My DD, I have a 27 mile/35 min to 1 hr or more commute to/from work, combination of freeways and city driving. Very comfortable, and nothing beats leaving work and taking the top down for the drive home!! If I need something bigger we also have an '09 Jeep Liberty, but I rarely need it. I can even get a decent-size grocery shopping trip in the trunk, 1-2 weeks worth of groceries!

Definitely a daily driver since it is my only car!

This is the first hard top convertible I have owned and so far I've driven top down with temps as low as 38 F. I cannot wait to drop top below the freezing mark - I just need to get some winter tires stat.

Does anyone here uses your Z4 as a everyday drive?

I do. But it's not like I have a huge commute, I'm in college

Re: Does anyone here uses your Z4 as a everyday drive?

I can tell you that both the 328i convertible and the Z4 have the exact same luggage space with the convertible luggage compartment safety latch activated. We own both cars. Without the latch down in convertible mode, obviously the 328i convertible has more cargo volume space than the Z4.

Bought mine in March with 46,000 km, just turned 66,000kms. Fitted all season tires and I will be driving it all winter, unless there's a major storm.

I have a 3.5is for the last 3 years, just hit 42,000 miles, use it at least 6 days a week, only share my wives X5 when we need to go anywhere as a family. Its a great car, and perfect for using every day, unless you need a big boot every day!

My 2013 Z4 is my one & only daily driver. The same with my previous Z4, a 2011. I live in Denver and have a 20 mile one way commute to work. I have a set of Blizaks and have no problems in the winter.

New life to this old thread

Because there are still many people evaluating the feasability of a Z4 for a daily drive, I wish to offer some advice on this topic.

I owned an old Fiat Spyder when I was 16, '91 Toyota MR2 at 23, a '98 Z3 2.8 at 33 years old, and now the Z4 (in my 40s).

1 - If you have a 3+ person family, at least one of you will be staying home.

2 - If your morning commute only requires the driver, this car can be dedicated as a daily commute car... as it leaves an extra seat in case you need to pick up one of your children from school in case he is hurt. If you have more than 2 children, what are your plans to pick them up from school if it unexpectedly closes early?

3 - if you are a home owner, there will be a time when you want to buy something that does not fit in the car. You will either not buy it, rent a uHaul, or hire a delivery.

4 - If you have an infant, please do not plan to transport the infant in this car.. like me, put your desire for a 2-seater on hold until the infant is much older. Note that I did not own a 2-seater from age 33 tip my 40s... I was busy raising my baby!

5 - If you are driving in the snow-belt territory, even with winter tires, know that this car will be bottoming out.... you will feel the floor boards shake because the deep snow is pressing the undercarriage of your car. You might even get hung up where the snow is packed under the car and it raises the wheel tires so that there is no traction.

6 - When I was 16 through 18, my Fiat Spyder soft-top 2-seater was perfect for my life's responsibilities. When I went away to college, I needed a larger car to haul all of my stuff, and to handle the winter highways - I sold it. I graduated from college and purchased a 1991 Toyota MR2 2-seater, but then I was married a few years later and that car did not serve my needs - I sold it. After graduating from B-school, and knowing that I had a year or two before I was going to be a dad, I purchased the BMW Z3 2.8 softop. I sold it a few months before my son was born - bought a Toyota RAV4 and enjoyed that car for all that it was worth. It was fun to have a car that I did not care if it got door dinged, and I always knew that I had space for everything. Well, my son is getting old (me too), and I have the Z4, but my family responsibilities still require that I have a SUV (and my wife needs an SUV also).

My point for all of this is ... 2-seaters are great fun, and you should think about your life and what you need. Until you are older (like me), a 2-seater will probably be a car that you only have for a few years, and then replace with something more practical. In this case, you should either lease, or buy a heavily depreciated car so that you can afford to part with it. Once you are an old guy like me, and the kids are grown, you can buy a two-seater with the expectation of keeping for a long time.

Ok - I wrote a book, yikes... surely no-one will read all of this.
