x35i Msport Delivered...+pics

All,

Picked up the new addition yesterday and I'm extremely pleased. The car reminds me of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide. On the three hour ride home the car was an extremely comfortable highway cruiser. But, as soon as you put it into sport or sport+ mode it tightens up, drops a couple of gears, and seems to shrink by about a third. While it's not as nimble as the 08 335i sport that it replaces it is close enough that I don't think I'll miss the smaller sportier sedan all that much. The only real disappointment is that despite paying the same for the HUD option the x3 is stuck with the previous generation rather than the full color version in the 5 series. Still tickled to have the HUD but a little bit miffed none the less. The tires are unfortunately not staggered but will do until I decide to replace them with summer skins. Also, the M steering wheel is crazy fat and feels great. Enjoy the picks and let me know what you think.

That is such a beautiful car! Thanks for sharing. If you don't mind me asking, what tire comes with the M-Package? I'm still waiting for a production date on mine.

Tire model

The Tires are Good Year Eagle LS2. They seem to be fine so far, even if their presence in the M sport package seems an odd choice by BMW.

Interesting, some other MSports have come with Pirellis, IIRC.

That is very interesting. The tirerack reviews of this tire seem to be subpar. Hopefully you'll have better luck with them than others! Thanks for letting us know the tire.

That's a HOT car! (I rarely say that). That's almost the exact same combo I'd get on an X3 if I wanted to order one (except with a smaller engine and Black exterior)

Color

The color is in fact space grey. It was a tough call between this and the Titanium Silver. The 08 335i the X3 replaced was Titanium Silver and I loved the color. I wanted to change things up a bit for this one and am really pleased with how it looks in person. The interior was a bit unimaginative though and I'm really jealous of those who chose the oyster interior. At least until it comes time to clean the leather and then I'll remember why black is such a great color for seating surfaces.

Cubed...thanks bro...I have caught enough crap on these forums for swimming upstream...Newsflash...The X3 is NOT a $58k car, I don't care how it is equipped.
My wife has one, and we are very happy with it...for $41+k...

tyre, and others -- there are plenty of us over on theE83 board who cant believe what people are paying for the new X3. Well more power to you. But at least look around and see what else is out there for that kind of $$$. If I were in the market for a small suv right now it would be a low mileage cpo E83 (09 or 10) with the thing that makes the car truly remarkable -- a 6 spd manual. If I wanted an automatic I'd get a new Jeep grnd cherokee. Each would save you roughly 10 - 15grand.

Jeez for 60k I'd get a cayenne. And a nice one.

Agree to disagree

I won't argue that for what I paid I could have cross shopped a couple of other options. For me it came down to the fact that the X3 had all the things I was looking for including HUD/BMW apps/ and extra room over my 08 335. I purchased the 335 while stationed in Germany and hands down driving on the autobahn and the great B roads in all around the tri-border region was the best I'm likely to ever experience. For the degraded US roads/infrastructure the X3 has the ability to magically shed a third of it's size and pretend like it is a much smaller car. I'm also going to miss the great six speed but I'll be able to content myself knowing that the F30 is right around the corner If I could have waited for the F30 I probably would have but I think this will do in the meantime.

Cubed, everyones taste is different in vehicles and if you have the money to blow, then who cares if someones spends 58k on a vehicle? I wouldn't, but I'd never take that away from the original poster who did.

This complaining about the F25 price couldn't have anything to do with the fact that just about every review of the F25 states that the new X3 is so much better than the E83?

Just wondering?

Space gray is a terrific color , for any BMW.

DHP

Unless OP paid the car full in cash, the total price really doesn't matter in terms of monthly lease payment.

Two things about the M Sport package:

1) Tires: "Luxury Sport" Grand Touring All Season tires on M Sport package? Again this shows how watered down the M thing is; purely cosmetic and marketing. You'd better take off these tires ASAP. Seems ZAP + summer tires option is a better route.

2) The only performance enhancing feature is Performance Control, which now is essentially a $100 option. Which makes sense, since it's all software based.

Space gray seems to be the only color of every BMW that is not black....
As far as total price only matters if one is paying cash...huh? Isn't a lease based on term, money factor, and the delta between the residual and selling price of the vehicle?
