Left front Door's speaker, sound comes in and goes out :S im confused

Hey guys,

Well i had a problem, high current drain, which was 7 amps when the car is off....
So gave it to few places no one could figure out, so i found this great local indy garage and they performed a miracle, they found the module that was causing it (left front door module), changed it and its all good, basically in one day my car was fixed. cost me about 500USD all together, with module, and cost of fixing/troubleshooting. i was really surprised and ecstatic.

okay So as im driving i notice something is off, i cant hear anything from the left side & its the left front drivers door....so i take it back to indy and they spend like 3-4 hours troubleshooting and they are clueless, they said it has got nothing to do with the module ....so anyways i have to take it back on sunday and thought id check your take on this.

Anyone ever experienced anything like this ?

Summary: left front side door's module was faulty, drained high current, replaced it and its working fine, but now on that same door the speaker snt working, indy said nothing to do with module. Anyone ever experienced this ?

Could be your ASK unit causing these problems, it controls speakers upfront

See if they may have "accidentally" unplugged something ie speaker harness. And check your ask as was suggested already.

thnx for the replies guys, but i dont get it tho... what relations does ASK have with the front left door module ? its called TMF according the the manual in this forum. why did it decide to go all crazy now ? they even diagnosed it for any faults & nothing came up :S

When the ask unit goes bad it doesnt necessarily store faults within and the speaker has nothing to do with the door module unless they unplugged it on accident which i doubt. Speaker going bad at the same time is probably a horrible coincidence.

To verify if your ASK unit is faulty, remove the ask unit, unplug it an with a double A or 9volt battery test your speakers if you hear a popping sound then the speakers are fine it the unit, if you don't hear a sound then one of two things could of happened, speaker damage or unplug.

Or just check the voice coil from the speaker by with even pressure pushing down on the cone and it should move free not binding or noise

Any time eBay has a the items you will need. Or a Quality auto recycler will have the stuff as well and probably give you a little bit of a warranty with it as well.

well im hoping i dont have to replace the module again, coz i just replaced the door module TMFAH, now if by replacing some modules other modules will fail due to this then ill just drive of a bridge with this piece of garbage ! lol

Ill just wait till Sunday, coz indy said just bring the car & we'll check it, coz it happened on the very door they changed the door module on, horrible coincidence like 745iguy said or.. ?lol

and thats where i got my door module from really, from scrap.

okay guys i got the problem sorted out, it was my radio HEAD UNIT, CCC i believe what its called, toe indy a diag on it & they said the there is no power output to the left speaker, so they bridged the wiring so now i got power taken from right speaker ahd shared with left, temporarily until i find another radio head unit or something. I was honestly surprised like how on earth was that possible.

The head unit is the ASK.

They are very well known for that sort of thing (see the sticky / numerous other threads), however your description sounded a little different which I guess is why people didn't immediately link you to the ASK threads.
