92 735 - Fixing tank hole
So a friend got a hole in the gas tank and wants me to weld it but I sort of don't wan to do it. I figured it might be easier to go to the local junk yards and might get lucky ad find a tank. A couple of things first. 1992 735i. I was looking for the service manual but can't find it. Anyone have a copy that might want to help me out to take the tank down?
If we find some other series BMW which would be the beat fit? If it would work. Thanks |

Yeah, welding a gas tank seems a bit risky though might be necessary if you can't find another tank.

try JB WELD first... works great... just make sure u clean the hole up really well and sand down around it so it can bond... i used it on an old rusty 88 suburban gas tank and it held for a long time... buddy used on a ford taurus... going down a country road and a big rock busted a hole in his tank and it held for over 10 years!!! pack it in there really well and let it cure. hardens like steel... make sure the tank is empty so no gasoline will leak on to JB WELD and harm the curing of it..
