X3: 4 month wait?
BMW, the world’s largest luxury-car maker, aims to grab market share this year backed by the overhauled X3 SUV, which is 3 inches longer and 1 inch wider to appeal more to U.S. drivers. The Munich-based company has a four-month order backlog, forcing some customers to wait as long as half a year for the $36,750 SUV, Chief Executive Officer Norbert Reithofer said May 4.

I guess I should have asked the question in the OP:
For those who have ordered recently, what are you being told is the lead time for receiving your car? Thanks |

Ordered April 15 in Vancouver, told June production, July delivery. The production week hasn't yet been provided.

I ordered April 15, it's already produced and on it's way! I am expecting 3rd week of May for delivery! I think my dealer pulled some strings though because I was promised may 16 for production date originally

This is a comment made by a worldwide CEO that is referencing the entire supply line at Greenville and the commitments for the car..It does not mean that each and every dealer is sold out, just that the production slots are committed to by the worldwide dealer network. Still a great sign to a new intro.

Ordered April 20. My dealer had an allocation for May delivery. Production completed this week. Wanted to do the Performance Center Delivery which was booked up until June, so not getting my car until early June.

I ordered on April 21. It will go into production next week or the week after with delivery around the end of May.

Americans are getting the X3s in good time, compared to Europe. Germany and the UK are waiting till the end of the year at this point.

If you didn't order nav then you will have a wait. The sales manager at my local dealer confirmed that May production and forward will have nav as a mandatory option.
All I know is BMW better not start offering a credit towards nav like on the 5 series or I will be cheesed off. |

My '08 X5 comes off lease in August, so I'm trying to figure out when I should start shopping around and then put in the order.

it's a new model, highly in demand...hence the delivery time is considerable.
Note that the delivery time for NA is extremely shorter compared to Europe as everyone mentioned here , it is built in South Carolina. Also do not forget the old policy of BMW that says: "If you want a BMW, you have to wait for it..." Not sure if that's applicable anymore with today's challenges in earning marketshare... But I ordered mine last day of March. This week (week 19) is its production week and the delivery was scheduled for end of May. So I'm looking at a 2 months timeframe from A-Z. Short supply usually means dealers salivating over close to MSRP deals. Or even worse the dreaded "ADP" stickers!

I just got a Week 22 Production!
There's not much left in SoCal, that's one of the earlier ones left

I ordered April 15, and was originally told June production, but I just found out my X3 was produced week 19. The CA says it will be here (Vancouver) at the end of May.
Guess the 4 month backlog doesn't apply to us. ![]() ![]() ![]()
