reset brake light

I am new to this, so bear with me. I changed my rear brakes pads and rotors recently and i need to know how to reset the brake light that is illuminated on the dash warning me that the brakes need replacing.

Does anyone know how i can reset this?

Did you replace the brake wear sensor? These are one-time use sensors and must be replaced in a brake job if the light has gone off.

I did replace the sensor. Does that usually reset the light?
If so I guess I need to check sensor installation.

If you so a forum search, I believe there is a procedure to reset it; however, I also heard that it would reset itself automatically if you just give it some time. A google on:

bmw X5 e70 brake light reset

Might provide some joy.
