I have to options for a lease:
1-order the car aprox june- july 2011 , receive by september as 2011 model 2-order in september to get it in november as a 2012 model it is worth it to wait till september to order the new model? is there many changes/bug fixes coming to the next year model ? what is the expected price jump Ill gues Im desesperated to get mine early /fall , and avoid price jump/deals ![]() or just to make shure to have it before the snow comes

With the US $ losing value the way it has been I wouldn't be surprised to see a price increase for 2012. Everything else is going up (except housing).
But who knows for sure?

Given that there are essentially 3 versions of the 2011, I can't see the 2012 being changed much, if at all.
The point about the USD value is certainly valid, although it has, in the past week, gone up...a bit. But I'm not holding my breath. To have a 2012 over a 2011, at this point, is good for resale.

I am on the same boat too. My CA told me. I can start ordering for 2012 model July/Aug.
I hope there will be more bug fixes to steering feel, bubble tire, throttle hesitation and HPFP reliability. |

i am not sure
that they will fix everything my hope that BMW fix things as they go during production, rather than waiting for MY 2012 or next year
Agree if u lease does not make any difference, if u buy then wait for 2012 Alex

The 2012's will be out late this year, October 15, according to my dealership. Changes for MY 2012 will be announced in June.

if they start to built the new 5 on week 1 of sep the cars will be arriving in the next 6-8 wks landing to the dealers here in USA by oct 15 I will wait till june to see if any significant changes are announced otherwise will order pronto

I'm waiting for 2012 hoping they fix some issues like vibrations, acceleration lag (If that truly is an issue), and possibly offer additional options like different tires or trim.
And if they don't fix anything? At least the vehicle will retain value longer than picking up a 2011 at the end of its model year. The info I've read suggests end of July availability for ED ordering with deliver after October 17th. I don't think you'll see any cars ordered for pickup in the US at that time though, ED is usually sooner than standard US release isn't it?

HPFP not problematic on F10 with N55. Every time someone inaccurately lumps the N55 into the N54 HPFP failure madness, it just spreads the hysteria. It is simply not accurate.

I'd be surprised if they increased the price. The 5 series is already the most expensive car in this class if you compare it to E-Class, XF, A6, and M37/56. More than 5k above nearest competitor. And there will be 2 new entrants in 2012 (new Audi and Lexus competitors) plus a facelifted and very stunning Jag XF. They will not gain revenue if they raise price when they are already 10% above everyone else.

I would be surprised if there are any meaningful changes. As noted there are essentially 3 different iterations of the 2011 model year. Significant improvements and tweaks make the cars being built now essentially a updated model without the MY change.
This is one of the reasons I feel pretty confident about buying this car in its first model yr, that the major bugs have been worked out. My 2005 E60 545i had no significant changes from the E60's first yr in 2004. Think that there had been some refinements thru the 2004 model yr, just like the F10 2011's have had.

For European Delivery the earliest that one can pick a 2012 F10 is October 15. They may be available here even later.

yes the NA straight six on the 528 is being replaced by the turbo-charged 4 cyl.

Could go either way, depending on what BMWFS does to the MF and residual. They often (not always) sweeten the leasing deals 2-3 months before EOP. Then one month before EOP, the deal gets worse, as they lower the residual. Then 3 months later they really sweeten the deal to clean out the prior year models sitting on dealer lots. But you cannot predict this with any accuracy.

I think it really depends on your deal and if the (perceived) changes are significant or not. For me I was buying and trading in. I knew that by waiting for MY2012 I would pay more for essentially the same car, as the 2012 will go up in price and my current car will depreciate further. Also I don't forsee I massive spec change especially in the 550 that i was considering.
If you have nothing to trade and/or money is less of a concern for you then I would wait.

I also agree that some improvements has been done already to the current model, I did like my long test drive a lot, Im happy with the new adition of the bigger black pannel display/apps for me this car is already a big upgrade from my beloved 328i I will see the lease offers for june-july (I prefer to pay less for almost the same car) If the dealers have the car I want in stock I may take it otherwise order it Im planning to lease the car for three years 10-12K miles with tire+rim insurance x 3 yrs ( no money down ) Im trading in my 328i hopefully I get some cash back

Oh, not to mention if they offered an alternative to run flats. Edit: It also seems likely the 2012 5 Series will have auto start/stop tech.

I thought they already fixed the grinding and the vibration during the year
![]() hopefully the aceleration lag is corrected with a sofware fix do you imagine if they change the angel eyes to the squarish ones from the new F30
