DSC and DBC Malfunction

I recently did the hood latch repair and since I was waiting on parts I decided to remove the battery cable. After the repairs were made the DSC and DBC malfunction message appeared and my brake lights stay illuminated. If anyone has any idea what i should do pls feel free to chime in.

You will probably have to have the codes erased. After that you should be ok!

I did have the battery disconnected for over 24hrs. Will I have to get the battery registered again?

Fixed

Thanks HerbP, you were correct. I paid $139 at the dealer to have the diagnostic run and after that all was well. However they did try and sell me a brake light switch tha apparently wasn't physically tested to be faulty. I asked and they kept saying it pulled a code but was never physically checked. So i said I'll pass and its been fine. So thanks again

The computers in the car store errors internally of minor malfunctions, like the brake light switch not working correctly intermittently (and thousands of other things...). If the error repeats, the computers keep a count of how many times it occurred and the mileage at the last time it occurred.

The dealer probably found errors stored in the computer related to the brake light switch, which is why they probably suggested replacing it. If the switch is operating intermittently, it will eventually fail and you will have to replace it. How long will it take to fail? Who knows. It might not ever fail completely, or it might fail tomorrow.

If it were me, I would go ahead and change it, assuming it is relatively inexpensive to change. The brake light switch is a key component in being able to start the car, and might leave you stranded if it failed.

I actually bought the switch and was waiting to change it out. Guess I'll go ahead with the repair. Thanks for the help.

Next on my list the tension struts. Any help or DIY info will be appreciated.
