Performance Driving Delivery
I did a quick search, but I didn't see anything about the Performance Driving Delivery Program. I'm about to order a X3 28i and the PDS Delivery program looks like a lot of fun. Can someone who's done it tell me if it's as fun as it looks, I'd be flying from NJ with my wife and then driving back up in our new X3. Thanks!

It is about as much fun as you can have in a single day. You do not want to miss the oppurtunity. Everything from the time you arrive to the hotel till you leave the facility is top notch. You'll be able to seriously push an X3 to it's limits and know how to better control it in emergency situations.

Agree with above. The off road course displays the xDrive technology, which is best way to demonstrate for the x3. It is also interesting the performance that the x3 has on the track. The PCD is worth it, as it's also stress free delivery experience as there are no dealership 'up****' selling of extended warranties (all additional profit for the dealership).
You are able to have the Marriott drive you to downtown Greenville in a courtesy BMW (just tip the driver) and will even pick you up if you want to eat off-site, such as at High Cotton. They have even driven me to the Platinum club on I-85 for a 'guys night out'. PCD is my choice of delivery living in Charleston, SC and being able to order from ANY US dealership (5th PCD next month for the F25). If your doing PCD, then you don't have to order from your local dealership.

PS, if you have the time, then PCD is the way to go (only available Mon to Friday, NO Weekends). No other way to take delivery, besides a ED Welt (but not available for X3)

We just did Performance Center Delivery of our new X3 on Wednesday. What a complete blast! They really treat you well from start to finish. The dinner at the hotel was very nice, and the cafeteria at the Performance Center would do any cruise ship proud. The driving exercises are fun, especially in someone else's car! It was the first time my wife has done any kind of track activity, and it was a riot seeing her do 360s on the skid pad.
Especially if you've never been on a racetrack, this is something you shouldn't miss. The "hot lap" riding in a M5 is quite an experience. I let my wife ride in the front and I was tossed around in the back seat like Madonna in the video they made a few years ago. Donnie Isley and Jonathan Stribble were temendous hosts to my wife and I. Even if you're a track veteran, the whole experience is great. The plant tour is also great, although they don't show you the X3 assembly line. (They tour the X5/X6 line.) If your schedule is flexible, you have to take advantage of this program! |

Can you do PCD but then pay to get redelivery to your dealership?

How do you do the PCD thing? Only through local dealer or BMW na? Do you get to haggle on ordered cars (ie below msrp) if you go the pcd route?

Yes about doing a PCD and redelivery, but you have to pay for the redelivery. Go to the PCD section of bimmerfest and there should be info in regards to the shipping costs.

With a PCD you can use ANY dealership, as I personally have never ordered my 5 BMW's since 2004 from my local dealership and still receive outstanding service with a loaner car. You should price your order off of invoice (still willing to give a fair profit to the dealership), and there is lots of info in regards to this topic in the forum 'ask a dealer'. With all PCD cars they are ordered from a dealership's allocation, as I have personally found that high volume dealerships are more willing to negotiate off of invoice as the have a high allocation from BMW NA to place their orders either for customer orders (priority 1 orders) or 'on-lot' supply. Instead of the car being delivered to the ordering dealership the car is trucked across highway 101 from BMW manufacturing to the PCD, and the reason why you can order from ANY dealership in the US via phone, e-mail, ect. Feel free to contact a 'fest forum sponsor if you feel like shopping around outside your local area.

hmm so it looks like for PCD you have to pay private retail delivery costs (e.g. 1000 cross country), in that case I'll plan a trip later to driving school it'll be roughly the same price heh
