Dash lights and console lights not working, Really need help.

I have a 2000 Bmw M Z3 ...My car was vandalized, they ripped the shift knob out of it, as a temp fix i saudered the ground back to the shifter so the dash lights and shift knob light would work till i could get a new one..Everything was working and lit for 2 days then it all stopped working, I have replaced the SHifter, and checked every fuse yet for the dash lights and console lights for the three gauges and other instiments will not work. I have secked just about every fuse i could find.
Is there a relay for these lights and if so which and where is it located? And what color?
Im at a loss right now and dont Can anyone give me some advice or help me out. And unfortunaly i do not have a owners man. yet. I check my yahoo constantly if you can reply there if you can help me thanks, the address is Twitchd06@yahoo.com I really need to get it fixed. And im hoping it didnt short out sumthing.

Sorry that the car was damaged. You need a new headlight/dimmerswitch.

When the shiftknob was removed, The wires shorted and killed the switch. Happens quite frequently - very bad design!

Thanks a lot , now i just gotta search the web to find the dimmerswitch, There are not a lot of Bmw parts shops here and the ones that are either take forever to get the parts or are outageous on prices.. This is the first Bmw i have had and so far i have put over $3K into it, and had over $6K of work done at Bmw due to the Vandalisim...Now its startin to look like a show car again. Once i get the light problem fixed my worries will be over and i can start adding performance upgrades.
