I assume by inspection you mean the inspection that you did before you purchased the car. Not that this will help you with your current purchase, but for any used car an inspection should be done by an independent shop before you purchase. They are experts, they see repaired damage all the time, they will put it on a lift, they use lights to inspect the paint, and can easily spot paint that doesn't match and overspray. Easily worth the $125-$200 cost.

Always get these kinds of assurances in writing. After you sign, it's your word against theirs that they stated this.

I'm sure that this is a major disappointment and I hope you get a satisfactory resolution.
