Infiniti Preparing to Release BMW Z4 / Audi TT Competitor in 2012

It looks like Infiniti will be jumping into the two-seater market with a new sports car that slots in below their G Series Coupe. The car, according to Auto Express, will be a traditional front-engine, rear wheel drive setup which will put it in line to compete with the Z4 and TT for two-seater fun.

The folks at Infiniti are also enlisting help from Lotus to add some additional chassis tuning -- and some additional name recognition. Look for the car to arrive in 2012 at Geneva.

Would you be interested in a sport inspired two seater from Infiniti or do you think they are simply picking a fight they cannot win???

I dunno, my first impression was that it looks like a cartoon from the 'Cars' series from Pixar.

Them headlights look like eyes, the logo a nose, and that air scoop underneath a mouth.

Hopefully, it will look better live.

when first pics of E92 came out -how many heated post was here. I post one my self. Until I saw one on Munich plant during my ED in July '06.
On more example when old 7 came out - Chris Bangle name was a worse then Josef Stalin.
Yesterday one was in front of me -I really liked.

So will it be an upscale 370Z? Well, the G coupe already isn't far off from that, but that looks a little closer. Hopefully Nissan will put a decent manual transmission in it, although I think they've given up on such things.

Yesterday one was in front of me -I really liked.

Still like the E90, still am not crazy about the back half of the E92; really not a fan of the E60 or the Bangled 7.

Interesting...I wonder what engine they'll use, V6 probably? 6Mt would go nice in this car as well...

You mean they actually have more than one? That coarse V6 of theirs-in one form or another- is in just about every car Nissan builds. After the BMW I6, it's hard to warm up to the Nissan VQ.

I don't like the choices offered. Just because I prefer the BMW does not mean the Infiniti can't win. Lots of people would go for the Infiniti. It's just not my preference. BMW has many features that are not appreciated by the typical gear-head. You need to appreciate the difference.

Would sure seem that way. The G coupe was already essentially a four seat Z, so by dropping to two seats, they would seem to be cannibalizing their other division.

The more the merrier. Will keep the other manufacturers at the top of their game by necessity.

Agreed! A little competition is what keeps vehicles getting better and better!

I know this is only a rendering, the back end looks a little heavy to me (too much space between wheel and top of trunk). Otherwise it looks pretty sporty...if it was priced well I can see this car being pretty appealing...unfortunately the Z4 is kind of pricey for what it is...if Infiniti undercut the price by 15-20k I can see that selling like hotcakes! I'd say 27-37k loaded and that thing would move pretty good. I'm sure BMW would sell alot more Z4s if the avg price was in the 30-40k range. I still have no idea why the Z4 sdrive35is starts at 62k or the base at 47k...pricing should not be based on what Porsche is doing...

Sketches don't mean anything. Car and Driver ran a sketch what was to become the E92 that looked like a cross between an Acura RSX and a Honda Accord coupe.
