Unhappy Suprise, No BMW assist/ No I-pod cable

Just took delivery of my X2 35/M sport.....I did not look close enough at the items included in the premium pkg....All other BMW I have boght to date always had BMW assist as part of the pkg......I guess no longer...I was informed I should have ordered it in the Tech pkg or as a stand alone option.
Also the enhanced USB/ Ipod @ N/C does NOT include the cable to hook up your I-pod..The X5 I bought last year had it included. Now it is an additional $71.00....So if your trading in a car that has a cable ...Hang on to it, you'll need it.

Does the cable come with it if you have the Tech Pkg?

I have the tech package but it didn't come with the cable. I did purchase it but in the meantime I had been using my iPad cable which actually works better than the $71 one so I wasted $71

Should not the client advisor know this at delivery? I heard it from mine.....I stream BT so I have not tried it, but he said the $70 cable no longer needed....

Is there a difference in using this cable vs. your IPhone/IPod cord?

I do not think that is true. We got the cable that works with my Ipad. We do not have any tech packages or "tech" stand alone options.

The cable is included with the F25 no matter what options you have. If you didn't get it then the dealer kept it. If the dealer denies it I would call BMWNA. It will have iPod functionality unless you have an ancient iPod.

How long is a "while ago" to you? My 2010 came with a split cable... albeit the fact that it was a 335i so maybe its different.

The split cable is what I got, and with that I don't see the album cover, not a big deal, but, with my regular iPod cable I do see the album cover. But really I don't think the dealerships or mine in particular knows what goes with what since we ordered the pad for the back which is supposed to come with one box and got two!

I took delivery of my F25 10 days ago and it came with the cable. The 2011 X3 definitely comes with the cable from the factory.

I have the tech package and mine didn't come with the cable.
I have an older iPod which didn't work with the standard iPod USB cable.
My dealer gave me the split Y cable for free and it works fine except I don't get the album art on the nav screen.

My car did not come with the split cable and uses the white apple cord to completely show the ipod in the idrive display along with cover art. The iPod shows the BMW logo and the words "BMW Com Box" I am running a iPod classic with 2.0.4 software on the pod.

I will inquire to some friends tomorrow that should know what the deal is....

BTW, thought I had tech but looking at sticker I have an ala carte of most tech tech: enhanced Bluetooth, Navigation, camera and Assist.

Easiest way to determine Tech in USA, if you have top view then you have it - no other way to order standalone with BMW USA

I picked up my 35i not quite 2 weeks ago (I have the tech package) and there were no cables included. Checked all the storage areas in the vehicle as well as the owners manual. I'm just using a regular white Ipod cable and everything is working fine & includes the album artwork.

Bmw assist does come with Tech Pkg......And there is a stand alone option,BMW Assist including Mobile Office and Bluetooth audio functionali $ 650.00 That is the only 2 ways to order it.

And my dealer claims the Tech pkg does not come with the I-pod cable....Older i-pods will not charge using the white cable...They need the 3 prong jobber/////

On the X3's my dealer had on the lot, the ones with the Tech package did not include the cable. However on the one X3 they had without it the cable was included.
YMMV,
Paul

It is something besides tech, but something included with tech...not sure.... as mine does not have the tech package and still no cable. Suffice to say, if you have a apple cable take it in and try it. If it works, you probably will not get the cable. Like I said, I don't know the details, but if the car has a "com box" , I think cable is excluded. A dealer guy here should be able to help us?

Edit: 3 diff guys at 3 diff dealers I have known for 10 years are telling me the same - all X product should now not get the split cable as they are all being made with a Com box which makes the apple cable work. Some x product may have accidentally got the split cable, but it's not the current procedure. It has nothing to do with any accessory package. The com box is standard equipment. The MINI product still gets the split cable. The key is cover art...the split cable won't give that.

So somebody else go ask and maybe we can put this to bed.
