Engine Function Light

I have my 2011 535ix for 8 weeks, 1250 miles. The Engine Function Light stays on when I start the car. Brought it back to the dealer who gave me a poor excuse about not driving it much and the battery charge being low. But he charged battery and turned off the light. Four days later the light is back on and I returned to dealer yesterday. He seems to be preplex about cause and fix for it. He still has the car.

Has anyone seen this before? Any information would be helpful.

Talking

Seem like an annoying issue and should be taken care of by dealership.
Please report back what they found and how they fix it. This would be a good knowledge sharing.

Just heard from my dealer. They are talking to BMW who also seem confused. They are going to replace the alternator and the Purge Valve (part of the emissions system). And they believe (hope) this will solve the issue.

The memorial day weekend got in the way so it took a whole week to get the car back. All is alright on a twenty five mile drive, we will see if issue returns.

Dealer got authorization from PUMA (Who is PUMA?) to replace fuel tank vent value/purge value as well as the alternator.
