M3 vs M6
Hey guys, im new here and there probably is a thread about this already.. but im in the market to buy a nice beamer. im in the market for an M6 or M3. Theyre both 2+2 coupes, but the M6 has a V10 while the M3 has a V8.. can someone tell me how much faster an m6 is, straight line, track, etc.? Which one is a better buy?

A M3 is faster on anything with turns or curves on it.
It is a much better track / handling car. M6 is faster in a straight line, but not by that much. Both have great engine sounds...... You could put a supercharger on a M3 ($8000) and beat the M6 in a straight line too... Try them both out.... and pick your poison Last edited by arter; 05-26-2011 at 05:09 PM. |

Go for the M3... M6 is a great car but if you drive each right after the other and the road has at least one curve in it you will be sold on the M3.

M3 for me for sure.
The M6 has had problems holding resale value too.

+1 on the resale value......it's horrible but I guess if you are getting a preowned ///M6 the original owner is the one that took the hit...............Phil

Pre-owned '08 M6 on my dealers lot right now for sale. Asking $60k. I test drove it but couldn't get comfortable w/ the SMG transmission.

I got both. 2011 M3 and 2007 M6 SMG BLK/brown with 11K miles in perfect condition CPO's till 2013. PM me if you are interested. I much rather drive the M6 any day of the week. More luxurious and the ride is more comfortable. the engine sound is intoxicating.

Eh... if luxury and comfort is the objective, I can think of half a dozen cars that are more competent in those areas than an M6.

It's not the objective, but it is certainly a consideration. If it was raw performance I was after, I would not drive a BMW... I have the DCT, by the way. I guess I am a bit irritated with the M3 as I don't have the EDC and there are many rattles, while the M6 is practically rattle free.

This is one of the reasons I got rid of the IS-F, fun car, but tough to live with as a daily driver

You will sell your M6 but you need to give buyers a taste of it. Interesting that you plan to keep the M3 but prefer the M6. I am completely happy with my M3 as a dd and for Road America ![]() DE

Yeah, low speeds in city driving, especially. With my wife, daughter & father-in-law along for a short test drive, they were quickly looking for alternative transportation to get home...
