Delays in production with HUDs and auto-high beam?

Just took the plunge and put a deposit on an X3 28i!!!

Unfortunately, the dealership was having problems giving me an ETA from Spartanburg becaue we ordered the HUD and auto-high beams. They told me they would try again tomorrow and touch base with me. Anyone else hear of this issue?

I suppose if the electronics from these systems are made in Japan that could account for the delay.

Sounds like they tried to put my X3 into a production slot electronically but were unable to do so because of these features. They then checked to see if there were any alerts re: those features but found none.

Therefore, the plan is to simply try again tomorrow or (worst case) call Spartanburg on Tuesday to see what's up.

So the CA finally got in touch with BMW USA and it turns out they are having production delays with these two particular features since components come from Japan. Fortunately, my CA got me pushed up in the queue due to good sales numbers. Scheduled build date in July with late Jul - early Aug delivery.

Can't wait!!!

Do you know if any other items are causing delays besides these two things?

No, but I ordered the Tech, Conv, Premium and M Sport packages and there were no issues with any of those. In fact the only thing I didn't get was satellite radio which is easy to set-up since the X3 is pre-wired for it.

They just built my 35i with a HUD, so they've got them in the parts bin. (Well, they had at least one. Could've been the last for all I know.)

I passed on the auto high-beams. Some things just aren't meant to be auto.
