How long will it take in production ?

I ordered Z4 first week of April and was told it will go into production sometime in June.
Anybody has any idea how long will it take in production from start to finish ? Thanks !

I ordered my car on May 24th, 2010. Within a few hours I had a production number from the dealer. The car went into production about 4 days later and was completed June 2nd.
The car arrived at the dealer in California exactly 50 days from the day I ordered it.
If you get a production number from the dealer you will be able to track the car's progress through the BMW website. Once the car is on a ship, your dealer will have the ship's name and you'll be able to track it as well.

Thanks ! My dealer didn't get a production number yet. I asked for it and they said they don't have it yet. I guess I have to wait until I hear from the dealer

Two months and no production number! I bet if you've got another dealer in the area they'll match the offer and have a production number for you quickly.

Wow, that is a really long time.
4/2 - ordered z4 35i, and got my production number the same day
4/30 - finished production
5/12 - left port from Bremerhaven, Germany (sat at the dock for almost 2 weeks )
5/25 - arrived in Bayonne, NJ
6/1 TODAY!!!!!! - arrived at my dealership in NH (7 days to make the 4 hour trip from NJ?)

Now I'm just waiting for plates, and I can bring it home... probably tomorrow...
My dealer did say that my car was a modification of an existing order already in the queue, which expedites the process, but the dealer claimed that this would shave only about a week off the production time.

I had been quoted 6-8 weeks by at least 2 dealers before I made my purchase. If you've gone 2 months without even a VIN number, there's something wrong with your dealer. Call around and see if other dealers are quoting similar times.

Congrats! I ordered in Richmond, VA on 04/02/2011. Z4 sDrive 35i. I was told on the same day that any z4 orders will go into production end of June and delivered in July/August. I am surprised! I just called the dealer and was told they will check on it and get back to me in the morning. Which year model is yours ?

2011 z4 sdrive 35i, same as yours it appears.

Although I'll probably be the only e89 in existence with 17" rims. I live out in the burbs, where all the potholes go to retire.

I did also order the alpine HID angel eyes 6000k. Not a big fan of the OEM yellow angel eyes.

I ordered a z4 w/ a production date of 6/9...I have a vin# for the car...when can I expect to see this car at my dealership? I am in the east coast (NY)...my dealer said I may get it as soon as the end of June....isnt that too soon? Thanks guys

As in finished production on 6/9? That could happen. It takes 2 weeks to sail over, and another 3-5 days to get through customs and shipped to your dealer.

My car got sat in Bremerhaven for 12 days waiting for a boat, and then sat in NJ over the holiday weekend waiting for a truck. You may have better luck.

When did you order ? All my dealer says is production end of June, delivery in July or August. I am guessing it is not this year Will check with them today.

Took about 2 months on mine as well. give or take a week or so..

yup it says production started w/ code 150...my ca said it should be completed by 6/9

I called some dealers on the East coast and everybody told me that it will take 60days for delivery I gave a deposit on 04/02 and haven't got a production number yet

I ordered my Z Feb 17 and it came in on march 30th
