Here it is..
Steps... 1) hit start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine) 2) then press the accelerator down to the floor for 5 sec 3) then hit start button once to turn off power 4) then remove foot from accelerator 5) then waite for 2 minutes 4) then start the engine like normal and try it out! Hope you have similar luck as me |

I guess I'm excited that it had any effect at all. I have a 36K / 3 year lease and so far I stick to 1000/mo so I don't drive it much. Only 6K miles on vehicle since purchasing in 8/1/11. Perhaps I will get a little more longevity with the the temporary fix? At this rate I won't even go in for first oil change until July 2012. At that time I'll ask about flashing the software to permanently correct the issue. I also showed this forum to my SA. He also thought the vehicle needed to learn my driving habits but didn't know about the remedy posted here. We'll see...

I'm dropping my '11 off tonight to have the software update performed. Here's hoping that I have no more delay!

Good luck Kindle! Let us know if the techs have to setup a connection with Germany to download the software.

They didn't tell me if they had to download from Germany. However, it took 2 days to complete the download.
Results: Mixed. There is a marked improvement with the tip in issue. Occasionally it still hesitates on take off. There has been no improvement with kick down however. The downshift delay is still quite significant. |

328i acceleration lag
Leased a 2011 BMW 328i in January, and the accelerator tip-in drives me crazy. My service rep brushed it off with "it's the curve of the engine, nothing i do will change it". I find this a substandard response for BMW. I saw somewhere that there is a fix...any advice on how to get it? Many thanks.

The fix is only for the 535!
The irresponsible, elitist,German corporate engineers and executives did nothing to address the problem in the 528i. As a consumer in a free market economy I'll won't buy another BMW if mine is not corrected. They cheated me by selling an inferior product and not remedying the problem.

Not so. This most recent update also applies to the 528. I have a 2011 528i and I had my car done (with the latest update) about a week ago. The previous update was strictly for the 535, though.

Easily installed near the gas pedal. It probably will not void your warranty but it is easily removed if need be. Can be found cheaper on eBay.

Maybe not. One of the other forum members (Needsdecaf) tried one and in the end he removed it. Check out the link to the thread discussing this.

That said, too bad that I owned the car for 17 months before it was comfortable to drive.

Just had my early 2011 528 sport reprogramed for the tip-in issue...
FYI, the first time they tried, the programing would not take....they had to upgrade my instrument cluster first, then the programming took... wow...what a difference in thottle/shifting response... |
