Bet this thing looks great with the hood down...

My 87 535is will not crank, I have weak dash lights and my MPG gauge will move but thats about it. My battery is fully charged and and I have even tried boosting it. The main relay tested first bad/then good so I switched it with an old one I had on hand. That did no good so I am open to ideas. I would be looking at the starter but I seem to not have enough juice to even run wipers or lights.

Battery terminals are the first place to look. Battery to chassis ground is the next. Sometimes these cables corrode inside the insulation where you can't see it. Try cleaninig up the connections and if that doesn't help, replace the battery to starter positive cable. The negative (ground) cable can also corrode. You can also try using a heavy jumper cable to directly power the starter, but be careful.

Thanks Catso ! That gives me a place to go next. There is no visible corrosion, but you never know.
