Yellow 4x4 inidicator flash

Did some minor offroading this weekend in some mud/ice. I noticed the Yellow 4x4 indicator would flash on and off every so often. I read in the manual that if it lights up steady, it means the DSC is shut off, or that the x-drive needs to be checked out. In my case, it would just flash on and off every once in a while. Was this just to show me that DSC/X-Drive was being used, or does it mean that it is faulty. I have only had the car a few a days so I am still getting used to everything.

I believe it should be just indicating that your X-drive is kicking in. The three series sedans have a little yellow indicator between the speedo and the tach that flashes whenever the DSC or ACS has kicked in.

It only illuminates if the DSC is working - not to indicate if AWD is working.

If the DSC is working, the vehicle is slipping or sliding out of control and the DSC is correcting.
