1991 318i power steering rack question

1991 318i power steering rack is toast, has been leaking a long time. What's the consequence of not replacing the rack? Car drives great, handles amazing.

It generally is a waste of time getting a steering rack from a breaker yard because it is most likely just as old and worn out.
Most E30 guys fit the E36 rack...needs some spacers and modification though...go to E30tech.com...there is an advertiser offering the required spacers etc. and a writeup in the DIY/FAQ section on how to fit an E36 rack to a E30.

The four banger is light enough in front to make PS delete liveable as a daily driver.
