Rock hit my windshield

Car is not even three weeks old when I'm driving on the freeway this past weekend and the car in front of me throws a rock that cracks my windshield! Unfortunately, it started to spider so I'll have to replace the entire windshield. Can't believe it happened so soon I'm hoping that the glass shop doesn't damage the leather on the dash during installation. Would it be weird if I cover the dash in plastic and stand guard watching the installer

I wouldn't worry too much. Cover the dash if you'd like but I doubt the glass will shatter. Just make sure you get the glass from the dealer. This is the only way the new glass will be BMW glass (and have a BMW logo). Otherwise you will get oe replacement glass.

Most definitely.. Be sure the rain sensors are installed and work properly as well.

It seems like new cars are magnets to rocks.

That just sucks. Had the same thing with my previous cls.
I find it best to let them know that you are very anal. You do not want calateral damage after the replacement. And yes, I would cover the dash with some thick blankets.
This and rock chips on front bumpers are my enemies. Bringing my car in tomorrow for clear bra install.

Thanks for the comments; it's always nice to have a built in support system! I will definitely let them know about my OCD; it just bugs me that it never seems to happen to the rental cars that I get when I travel every week, but has to happen on my new 7. Oh well, I can't very well bubble wrap the entire vehicle, or can I.

FWIW just had my windshield replaced through Geico and they scheduled safelight and requested OEM glass and they did it at no addition cost and has BMW logo in bottom left corner Geico even told me to make sure safelight provided OEM because they paid for that

I've used Safelite in the past and they're scheduled to come to my house next week. I made sure to tell my insurance company that the car was still new and wanted OEM replacement and they said no problem. Hopefully, I won't have any issues.

It should all work out fine. One thing my sales guy told me initially is that the 7 series glass is tilted a little more than most cars, and it also depends on the angle in which the rock hit your window. Not sure I believe that though.
