HELP PLEASE?!?! car alarm wont work on my z3

i recently purchased my z3 i installed a 2- way alarm system (excalibur) it works fine yet there is one problem my automatic doors wont open nor close...unless i open it with my key while the alarm is disabled. I took it to an installer and he said it was the Z3 needed the factory alarm that was why the doors didnt respond to the alarm system..Im not sure though if he is right ? Any suggestions? or comments let me know pleaseeeee thanksss

Does ur dome light work properly? As in, when u set it to turn on/off with regards to door open/closed, it does what it's supposed to. Ive had the same alarm issue for years and just found out it's the tiny button on the door strike, the hook from the door isn't pressing it in like it should be. FYI- the door strike is attached to the body of the car where ur door latches.

I had to wedge things to make sure it connected to test the dome light. Found both driver and passenger side were not connecting good. Have since taped up the hook part to see how that holds.

Check the age of your battery and replace if necessary. I had minor electrical issues on my 2004 e46 that disappeared when I installed a new battery. And, that's when I found out I had an alarm system.
