So the progress is pretty fast now, I talked to my dad on skype today, and he said, that tomorrow he's going to finish sanding the fender and also fill and sand the part under the trunk, so they can start painting the car. Maybe it is a bit dumb to paint 1/3 of the car, but not the whole car, but still I have some body panels to be replaced in the front end and I have no money for that yet.
Here's a pic of the filled patch on the rear right corner:

The painting will start the next week, if everything goes as it should, so the finish line is near. Also, the side skirt will be patched on monday. So, as we hope, they can start painting on Tuesday, so there would be enough time left for polishing and putting it all together, before I get back to Latvia to pick up my car.
Tomorrow I'm ordering the front lip I mentioned in the Ebay "must buy" list a few posts back.
Any progress will be posted as soon as I get more pics.

So, there's more progress. Dad's been sanding all Sunday, I got the pics today, it's getting more and more ready for painting!

So here are the pics:

So my dad even made the little stripe on the corner

Just some random pic showing the giant layer of dust on my car

Not really sponsored - I was working with it while I was in Latvia. They paid with vodka bottles for having stickers, while I worked with them. I am thinking of keeping the stickers anyway, I kind of like how they look But yeah, sometimes they paid back, when I changed some parts, like filters etc.

It's flavored vodka, available only in Europe, you can google it or go to xeniavodka.com (This is not an advertisement)

I wish captain morgan would pay me in bottles for a sticker placement. To me, alcohol seems like the only legit reason to have stickers on any car.

Differs on your taste

Okay, guys, there's more progress again. The guys at the paint shop decided to paint whole wings, not only till the line, so they were all sanded and getting ready for painting. As my dad sanded the right fender, he noticed some more minor holes in the inner-arch, so they will be welded before painting.

More pics to come tomorrow!

Yeah, I can't wait to see the finished product. My stupid bank today f**ked up everything. The money hasn't transferred yet, so I can't order the front lip I hope I will be able to do it tomorrow.

At last my account has been upgraded with some money for dumping in the car

Today I decided to get one of these ones
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Lederlenkrad-...ht_8080wt_1270
Instead of the lip. The comfort for my hands is a bigger priority than the lip. Also I'm sick of having a steering wheel made of stickytape
Also a must buy will be the OEM side skirts - the Non-M ones!

Lip will be the next thing, if I won't find any cheap gear knob's or Sportsitzes

Also, some bored-to-death photoshop edits

Original:

Style 5's on:

Style 5's and "banditized" (black tint, black tails, black badges):

Style 5's on and lowered even MORE:

I know it looks damn good, but this height would probably rip off everything you can find under the car

And of course, the photoshopped rims are not scaled to match real rim 17" size. I was just too lazy to do it so precise

Unfortunately there's no progress with the welding or painting, but as my dad told me that on Monday the right fender will be welded, filled and sanded, so on Tuesday the are spraying the ground layer and on Wednesday they are painting the car. I am really angry about that, because I am arriving in Latvia on Tuesday, and I hoped, that I'll have my car done by that time, but if we look on it from another side, I will still be able to do some work on the car myself, which can be counted as a bonus

The only progress is that the stuff from Ebay is arriving one by one - yesterday I got the trollface stickers (don't ask why), today the BMW badge arrived, so I will be able to treat my beauty with some new parts, when I get to Latvia. After coming back to Denmark, I will order the front lip.

Here's a pic of the badge:

It cost 17$ including shipping, by the way As the marks on the back of the badge say, it is a genuine BMW badge,
but I believe that it is just restored, because it says it was made in January, 1997

Thanks a lot man, my build is not even close to finished - the rust removal is just a part from building the car I hope I'll be patient enough to build the car how I have imagined it

Do you have your project's thread on the Fest?

I hope I will, well I definitely will enough time if I will be in Denmark most of my time, because there's nothing to do here

Wow, that is a rally nice swap you did there! I'm thinking about swapping my M52B20 with a M52B28. That's a pretty cheap swap, but gives good results, and I'm not really into putting turbo on a Bimmer, not the right engine type for that IMO

I think that sending it to you could cost a lot, because, you know, I'm in Europe

Thanks man, I'm really happy about the feedback here in the Fest, much better than anywhere else

Also, I hope that this evening my dad will send me some pics with some progress, or I'll get really frustrated about the pause of the build

A little progress was made today.

They discovered this giant hole in the right fender, it will be welded tomorrow.
SO from tomorrow I will be helping the build myself. Got some more neat stuff from Ebay today, so pics will be here in a few days.

For now it looks like this:

Hardcore, isn't it?

The brake rotors will be replaced as soon as possible. They look just disgusting

You can also see the front coilovers fitted

Also there's a funny thing - the guys at the repair shop weren't able to get my car on the lift, so they made path with wooden planks for getting the car on the lift.
Then they needed to lift it up by the fenders to get the lift's arms under the car. That is the moment when I realize how low my car actually is.

Hey guys,
Got some news today. Fortunately I had a good flight to Latvia, so I am now attending the build myself.
The fenders are welded, and the ground coat was applied toady. Tomorrow we are sanding the ground coat and spraying the paint on. I hope to get it all done on Friday. I'll post some pics later.
