Which tires to choose for X5 20 inch set up?

I am shopping for 315/35/20 and 275/40/20 tires for X5.

I have three options considering the financial burden of the tires.

VREDESTEIN ULTRAC SUV SESSANTA
CONTINENTAL ExtremeContact DWS
Toyo Proxes st II

what do you recommend and what are your experiences?

I live in florida so no snow but we have rain to deal with.

I appreciate your feedback.

20'' tires

I just ordered a set of Vredestein 315 rear... 275 front... $990.00 including shipping... The reviews seem very good except for wear... I really like the design especiially the rim protection feature.. They have a very high rating for handling and quietness.

anyone have tire wheel warranty? wondering if they will replace a rim if you change out the RF tires....
the ride is truly horrid with the run flats. My 8000 pound sprinter cargo van is smoother.

No, you must maintain a RFT setup in order for your wheel/tire warranty to remain valid.

I'm thinking of somehow sweet-talking and even "incentivizing" my SA to replace my set of 20" RFT's when they wear out, since I already paid for the tire warranty. Anyone have positive experiences on this?

Same here. Need to replace the Dunlops. I am leasing, but will probably get non-RFT.

I run the VREDESTEIN ULTRAC SUV SESSANTA. I love them so far, they are quiet, but only have about 2000 miles on them so i cant give a real good evaluation. Right now they are on e-bay for $1045 with free shipping. they went up. When I bought mine in February, they were $945.
Reasonably priced are the Atturo AZ800's. also on ebay for $839 with free ship. I have never heard of these tires so ask someone else about them before you purchase them.

I run the non-RFT Contis in a similar set up to the OP.

Great tire with zero complaints. The best all-season tire that I have ever driven on.

Has anyone tried the NITTO INVO ? They are same price as Conti DWS...

Anyone know the weight difference between a RFT and non RFT tire?

Thanks

Tirerack has data on weights. Usually run-flat is few pounds heavier.

I just installed the Vredesteins on new Avant Garde M510 wheels. I went with the Vreds over the Contis because:

1) I already have Snow tires mounted on my OEM Style 335 19" wheels for winter driving - don't need all season and don't want them - lots of mountain driving in winter

2) The Vreds are Y speed rated vs W for the Contis

3) The Vreds look very very cool

4) The 315/35/20 Vreds are recommended for a 10" wide wheel (which I wanted to buy) whereas the Contis specify a minimum 10.5" wide wheel

I love them so far . . .

I put on the Conti DWS non run flats and I am very happy! Quiet, smooth ride, it's like a different vehicle! You owe it to your self to check out the Conti's.

+1. In addition, the overall diameter and revs per mile for the front and rears are very close so your transfer case will love them too.

The biggest downside of this tire in my opinion is the loss of some precision compared to a summer only tire. Treads feel a bit squirmy and sidewalls feel "flexy."

I had them in for a few days and couldn't get used to the different sidewall and tread
Made the tire look "beefy"
Couldn't take it, so I ditched em
Bridgestones t back on!
Anyone experience this?

I had a set of factory bridgestone Rf's and just went with the toyo's, the 315 toyo's are no where near the beefiness of the bridestones. The are an easy 2" not as wide.

I didnt take a pic side by side but the toyo was clearly smaller. On a bright note hopefully the inner tred doesnt get eaten in 2 seasons??
