E39 (1997 - 2003)
The BMW 5-Series (E39 chassis) was introduced in the United States as a 1997 model year car and lasted until the 2004 when the E60 chassis was released. The United States saw several variations including the 525i, 528i, 530i and 540i. -- View the E39 Wiki

If anyone is wondering about this kit. IT WORKS REALLY GOOD AND I RECOMMEND IT!

These work well also:
- Headlight plastic polishing & refinishing DIY (1) (2) (3) (4) & polishing yellowed taillights (1) & replacing the lens in toto (1) and all known options for replacing broken E39 late-model headlight adjusters (1)

I agree that the 3M kit does a really nice job. However, I would recommend removing the headlights from the car to do it. It takes less time to take them out than it does to do the masking. Also there's no risk of slipping with the buffing wheel and catching something just beyond the tape.

I used the 3m kit on my old 300m and it worked beautifully. I definitely recommend it.

I agree. I have used it a couple of times already. I recommend using a corded drill because there's no battery life issues and there is more torque when using the discs. You can sand as long as you want. Great product.

I find that after using these kits if you use meguires scratch-x as the final stage it gets even clearer!
