Will the wheels from E65/E66 fit Curent F01

I am trying to figure out if wheels from older E65 will fit my F01 7 series. I was pretty certain until I saw info below, that even bolts / offset are different. Is it right ?

Can you please clarify why NO ? everything seems to match. Besides the offset.

What I thought was an issue with Bolt thread, does not seem to be a concern (per explanation from a mechanic at BMW), so only offset is the issue. But it is a smaller offset so I thought this is a minor issue.

There were pictures posted here a few months back of a F01 with the 21" style 128 wheels designed for the E65 which leads me to believe that it is possible with modifications.

Thanks, just to note the thread you pointed out is made by Wilassasin and he posted here saying they will not fit. Hopefully he will take a look at this thread again.
The wheels I want to add are Style 93 / 18", I would like to use them as my winter set.

It can be done but it would require a lot of work ($). It also depends of the type of wheels and how extreme there offsets are. The only other car that has the same bolt pattern and offset as the F01/F02 is the Lexus LS460. But beware the Lexus has a smaller hub center.

the offsets shouldn't matter that much since you can always change them with wheel spacers if needed. With a big setup like the old 7 and the current F01/02, it should clear the brakes fairly easily however it might need spacers to make it push out to the fenders

As far as the bolts go, it shouldn't be an issue as the bolts should still easily slide through the holes and as well keep the wheel secured on properly. The hubs should be the same size but I can't pull that info up at the moment.

Contacted the dealer on this matter, and was informed that the wheels from the two different models were not interchangeable without some modification, i.e. spacers etc...However, we had a member with a 2008 e65/66 install some 19inch F01/02 wheels without a single issue...Go figure

Offset is everything in terms of wheel fit. For the E65 the ET (offset) is +24mm. This means that from the mounting point the center of the wheel needs to be 24mm towards the outside of the vehicle. The details on the F01 cars are:

Bolt Pattern: 5x120
Center Bore: 72.56
Hardware:14x1.50 Bolt
Offset:
Front: 15-25mm
Rear: 32-40mm

Generally speaking there is about 5mm to 7mm of give for the spec before rubbing issues are evident. So it would appear with spacers you could get away with the fit. Front wheels should fit perfectly its the back ones that will need the spacing.

Something else to consider is the hub center - its different on the F01/02 car vs the E65 - in terms of how far it sticks out. There is probably tollerance with most wheels, but you should keep it in mind while you experiment fit.

Why BMW would match the setup from the new LS is just whack. That car has terrible offsets for most wheels already available. You must go custom to look good.

I asked this question to a guy at butler tire in ATL last weekend, He said the offset of the wheels are different, The Previous gen 7 wheels will stick out the sides of the car too much, giving you the jeep wrangler look. Also thats why the widest rim you can get for the new 7 is a 10.5" and for the old one is 11"

This is what it is. The front shouldnt be the issue, the rear will. With the right tire sizes, 21" OE 128's may work. However, if you are trying to save some multi piece 22's from an E65/E66, you may get the rear to fit by changing the outer lip to a narrower one.

Spacers will push the wheels further out.

Rear wheel offset, wheel width and tire size is the deal breaker.

The wheels I wanted to get are 18" with 245/45/18 all around. This would be my winter set. Can you please confirm that this would work as 18" rims are pretty narrow.

If anyone get a chance please confirm if they would fit, I have to pick them up Saturday.

I looked at buying a used set of 3 piece wheels from an E65. Here is the list of changes required to make them fit properly.

Current Fitment @
Front @ 22x9.5, et+19, Rims 6.0” Inner w/3.5” Outer, PH0.75
Rear @ 22x10.0, et+12, Rims 6.0” Inner w/4.0” Outer, PH0.75

We recommend the following adjustments.
Front / Shave Wheel Center Bolt Circle Pad from 0.75 less .100” to 0.65”, Apply fitment @

As you can see the changes are quite extensive and most professional shops are going to charge you at least $1200-1500 to do the work. The front wheels need to be machined and a new outer lip. The rears need a new lip and barrel. I found that it really wasn't worth it...

I am still confused if 18" rims from BMW 745i E65 2008 would fit F01 2009. I understand the issue with large rims, but what about the size I mentioned 18" rims with 245/45/18 Tires ?

IMO you should be fine with that size wheel. In the worst case scenario you may need spacers. But I would mount them before I made that decision.
