F10 in high altitude

We are planning a road trip for August and will be going from So Ca. to Aspen, Colorado, Denver and the San Juan Mountains. Should we be concerned about higher altitudes with our car? Probably not, but I just wondered if anyone had experienced any issues.

I would say in the non-turbo's, expect reduced horsepower. I drove through the mountains in Europe and had zero problems, but I had a different engine.

Will do.

We are really looking forward to this trip. We are staying in Aspen, Bolder, Highlands Ranch and Telluride. It's going to be a great trip! Then a few days after we get back we go to Carmel Valley to visit family as well. Its going to be a busy summer.
Then I go to New York in September too, but I'm not driving there! This is going to be the most traveling I have done at once in years!!

You'll lose some oomph in the mountains, but the 8 speed transmission will disguise it well.

The last time we were up there we had a 4 cylinder Subaru. I'm sure the F10 will do much better than that little car.

None of the places you named are at extreme altitude although depending on how you go, some of the passes are pretty high. You will notice the HP reduction but I doubt that you will have any issue.

BTW - if you like really good sushi, this is an unbelievably good place in Aspen:

Except to be down on power. FI really works its magic up there.

Anyways, I think that you will find lower octane fuel at higher altitudes.

Judy you should probably subscribe to this thread. IL is testing a long term 528i and they just took it on a 1300 mile road trip up to 8k feet:

Carmel Valley -- one of my most favorite places on the planet. I'm jealous! Enjoy. Your car will be fine.
