Angel eye mod's... and a couple pics

Well, I switched to brighter headlight bulbs a few months back, recently had my DRL's programmed off by the dealer (got it done for $30) and deleted my corning parking light bulbs this last weekend.

Now I can run halos by manually turning the headlight switch to position #2 (parking lights). I run headlights on a sunny day and halo's when cloudy or low light. The one downside is I have to remember to manually cut off the halos when I shut her down with a reminder from the warning chime.

I've added a couple pics with the Miro M6 wheels I swapped out with Hoss.

Looks great Greg!

Also - why does the bulb on the driver's side of the car look brighter? Is that due to the lighting of the photo, or is it actually like that in person?

Thanks Nick!

Thanks Hoss - I took a look and it's just the lighting/camera angle.

That's a good look Greg! Nice car.......... FYI... On my 6 I can go into the options and turn off DRL's. I normally drive around in position 2 with just the halos on and I too must manually turn them off when exiting the car. . I wish it was an auto shut off like all the other positions...

Thanks Yorgi! Thanks drock! - I tried the idrive approach with the DRLs and couldn't get it the way I wanted it (maybe the prior owner programmed yours before you got it).

For headlight bulbs, I went with the 5W Kaibirds from an ebay seller about 9 months ago based on the recommendation from another user on this board ($45 vs. $135+ for m-tecs).

Thanks! I'm not sure what got it started but originally my goal was to get rid of the weak amber DRLs - I guess it was mostly the pics, comments and DIY advice on this forum (combined with a little of my own OCD) that fueled this particular obsession...

I passed a new six yesterday running bright white double halo DRLs (I guess they are now standard on the six and on most other late model BMW's) - looks very good.

I believe they are standard now, you see many BMW's with them that look they are right off the lot. But all of them are doing this now...Audi, Mercedes, etc.

Once all cars have the Angel Eyes it will be en vouge to delete them. I am a trendsetter for that event!

yeah.... they seem to be standard. At least bmw has a little uniqueness with the halo's vs. the LED strips that everyone else seems to be using.

So to get angel eyes on my 6, I must have the dealer to mod my headlights?

I think you have to get some sort of hid kit for angel eyes. If you mean use your angel eyes as drl then just turn them on

The ride is looking sweet gregb! These cars only gets better with age. I saw a black on black today on the parkway and I find myself admiring the car. It was so clean and shiny. These cars looks so good on the road. I'm seeing the new ones now more often but it just does not command the attention our current styling gets. I do like the new features though of the brighter whiter halos and the interior is great.

For mine, I replaced the bulbs with brighter bulbs (but not HID and no ballast or wiring). I had the dealer program the DRL's off ($29) as part of another service visit, did the corner bulb delete and turn on the parking lights (position #2) to run the halo's. However, you can switch the headlight bulbs to get somewhat brighter halo's without any dealer programming.

thanks pablo and mrdrug!
