Ouch.. I think RIM is in for an adjustment tomorrow

Today's call summary:

• $2.1 billion in cash, cash equivalents, short-term and long-term investments at the end of the quarter, which increased by approximately $610 million in the quarter
• Cash flow from operations of approximately $1.1 billion, up from approximately $900 million in Q3
• Revenue of $4.2 billion, down 19% from the third quarter
• GAAP net loss in Q4 of $125 million or $0.24 per share diluted; adjusted net income of $418 million or $0.80 per share diluted
• BlackBerry smartphone shipments of 11.1 million in Q4, down 21% from Q3
• RIM to discontinue providing specific quantitative guidance

RIMM puts will most likely pay well. RIMM is pretty much the next PALM. Their days seem numbered. You have Apple,Android and then Windows. I don't think the Blackberry has too much of a future. It may survive but will only have a small piece of the market.

Option gains this week were crazy.. The weekly $35 calls went from $.03 to $.40

Apple initiated with a Buy and a $1001 price target at Topeka Capital.

On the other hand, griff initiated AAPL with a Buy and a $888.88 price target without a time line.

If you would have bought the Apple weekly calls this morning when Apple dipped to around $600 you would have made 50% on your investment.

Damn.. Apple just hit $630 that is up about 5% from yesterday's lows. Calls are actually up over 100%

Normally I might think that a stock like AAPL might be run up already but this thing is really carrying a lot of momentum, and now with these new price targets I am really considering picking up some July 700 dollar Calls. Yes, it's shorter term, but I think the momentum will continue to carry this stock quite a ways up in the near term.

Thoughts?

Best to wait till Apple sees a bloody day before picking up calls or them calls carry quite a premium.

History says it's a sign of bubble when these crazy numbers come up.

But on the other hand, those numbers are somewhat justified if the PE and growth is sustainable. Current PE of 18 is still OK at current growth rate...

I'm still waiting for the market to come down... "sell in May, go away"...

With a trillion here from the ECB, a trillion there from the Fed, history is being rewritten.

But yeah, the last two years it's been "sell in April, go away" - I think this year will be the same.

Yeah, it explains this:

US reports lowering unemployment and slowly increasing GDP => stocks go up

EU (larger economy than US) reports record 10.8% unemployment and growth slowing to recessionary levels => stocks go up

QE, it's the gift that keeps on giving!

How far is the pullback gonna go? We're almost at 5% pullback. Thoughts?

Rallies are slow, corrections are fast, the last 3 years certainly have followed that trend.

Hard to tell so far. Today we may see a bounce and then we may see it slowly deflate Hard to tell as of now.

The market has been going up for the past 3 years even when rallies are slow and corrections are fast. That said, I believe the pullback is done and S&P heading to 2000

Why not 3000?

When AAPL hits $4000/share and the company buys Somalia for even cheaper labor you'll know we've peaked.

Someone must be cashing out big from GOOG, AAPL and PCLN; PCLN dropped 40 bucks in less than an hour, pretty much the same pattern for AAPL and GOOG.

Usually when the market tanks big time Apple and Google don't drop too much. Maybe someone is unloading in advance or maybe someone wanted to get the price down before earnings next week so they could get the call option prices down as the call prices were too high

I think we're in the 1st leg of a downward trend - but you have little rallies like today that will give the big fish time to get out before we go down.

The stocks that led on the way up are leading the way down.
