335xi at the track
I am an advanced DE driver having driving with the PCA in air cooled 911s for a number of years. I have also tracked a Corvette Z06. Most of my track experience has been in a dedicated track car. I no longer own a dedicated track car but I recently purchased a 2007 BMW 335xi as a daily driver. As I am often in traffic, the car has an automatic tranny. Nonetheless, I am getting the urge to hit the track, at least occasionally. My car will continue to be a daily driver. I will be putting on track pads, and track tires for event purposes only and switch back thereafter. Should I be concerned about my car's ability to handle a track weekend, e.g., overheating, overburdening the transmission, etc.? I am only concerned with mechanical issues not performance issues.
